Your job is more than a job.This role is for a Clinical Educator in the Acute Medicine Division.This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this department. This is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities, and LCMC Health reserves the right to amend and change responsibilities to meet organizational needs as necessary.GENERAL DUTIESEducation: Assists with the coordination, development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical education in the assigned clinical areas. Serves as a resource to nursing staff, nursing students, and other healthcare personnel in the acquisition of knowledge and skills related to nursing competency and critical thinking. Collaborates with Department of Nursing Education & Professional Development and unit department director/manager to oversee clinical training and patient safety initiatives in the assigned clinical area.Role-Modeling/Coaching Nursing Practice: Models excellence in nursing practice through the utilization of advanced concepts in the areas of assessments, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of perceived, actual, or potential problems that occur in a variety of patient populations. Assist new graduates and new hires during orientation to assigned clinical areas. Providing clinical expertise that supports clinical competency while reinforcing new knowledge. Provides oversight of all new clinical practices and reinforces current practices and processes with clinicians in the assigned clinical areas, establishing competency when appropriate. Assist and provides direction to nursing staff with clinical decision-making and priority setting, utilizing critical thinking skills.Leadership: Collaborates with clinical staff nurses, unit directors/managers, Department of Nursing Education & Professional Development, and other members of the health care team to assure clinician performance meets established evidence-based standards; ensuring patient safety and quality is maintained. Demonstrates effective leadership: Acts with vision and purpose, fosters teamwork, and communicates effectively and openly. Complies with all hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and programs. Participates in departmental and hospital committees and meetings, and special projects as assigned to facilitate improvement of patient care tech and development of goals and objectives for the unit’s patient population.Quality Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice, & Research: Maintains current knowledge, generates new knowledge, and integrates evidence-based practices into all educational initiatives Participates in and supports research activities. Participates in and supports quality improvement initiatives.Acts as a Change Agent: Introduces and supports new ideas. Embraces meaningful change. Communicates the vision for the change. Develops programs to educate staff and help staff cope with change. Provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession.
