Manufacturing Quality Assurance Engineer

This position is based in the US and required to be in compliance with ITAR regulations.

We are looking for a talented and motivated hands-on quality assurance engineer with a sound understanding of quality control systems. This individual will have experience in preparing inspection plans and procedures, inspection records, material action records, and implementing corrective actions, and presenting work to others.

Responsibilities:

  • Quality control functions associated with the manufacturing of cells and batteries in a cross functional team environment.
  • Implement a quality control system and support related activities: product design, manufacturing, test, and evaluation.
  • Generate quality control documentation such as, inspection plans, inspection procedures, inspection records, material action records, and corrective action records, etc.
  • Prepare detailed quality plans in accordance with industry standards, MIL-STD-105 sampling by attributes, statistical process control (SPC), total quality management (TQM), etc.
  • Prepare inspection methods, specify inspection tools and equipment. Gage repeatability & reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies.
  • Interact with suppliers as needed to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Prepare quality cost estimates.
  • Support root cause defect analysis, identification, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support reviews: preliminary design review (PDR), test readiness reviews (TRRs), critical design review (CDR), production readiness reviews (PRRs), etc., as necessary.
  • Ensure equipment calibration is maintained.
  • Obtain quality certifications as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or similar.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in quality control/quality engineering.
  • Quality software, Minitab, MS Office, etc.
  • Working knowledge of measuring instruments, test methods, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack up analysis, and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), design-to-unit-product-cost (DTUPC), and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (oral and written).
  • Lithium battery experience is a plus.
