About the Position

As the Network Engineer you will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating all aspects of network communications systems, network software and hardware support, and the District’s converged network across all locations and customer sites. In this position you will address issues of interoperability within the local and remote IS networks to support District growth and the development of new business opportunities. We will count on you to monitor and identify trends of the network regarding network utilization, anticipating future demands and providing necessary capacity to maintain service levels.

We Require

  • One years of experience in network analysis and support which includes experience with wide and local networks, common carrier data networks in medium to large enterprise networking environments involving multiple site locations

  • Cisco Certified Networking Administrator or Cisco Certified Networking Professional

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

  • Experience with Aerohive or Extreme networks

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal customers and suppliers

  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff and outside contractors, vendors, and service providers

Job Contributions

  • Performs equipment installations, configurations and relocations as required to support the business needs of the District

  • Provides network support and security for operations in the WAN/LAN environment

  • Monitors and tunes the District network for optimal performance, including quality of service for voice over IP

  • Provides input to management for network design and procurement of network equipment and supplies

  • Evaluates overall network requirements for performance, availability, utilization and reliability

  • Schedules and prioritizes work to accommodate IT and customer needs while minimizing impact on current projects and operations

  • Recommends communication vendor products and services

  • Informs management of potential service level problems before they occur and communicates solutions

Working Conditions

  • While the position is eligible for hybrid flexibility some projects, or service calls will require an onsite presence and travel to multiple sites around Maricopa County

  • Exerting 20-25 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly

  • Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
