Job Description

The Strategy & Planning team is focused on strategy formulation and prioritization, strategic and operational planning, program management, and vendor management efforts while building next-gen Total Cost of Ownership capabilities.  

The Agile Scrum Master role reports to the Director, Agile / Ways of Working COE, PMO.  

As a Scrum Master at McDonald’s, you will be responsible for the daily operations of an agile squad, facilitating the work of the squad and scrum ceremonies, and ensuring the team is fully functional and productive. You will help the squad self-organize, focus on outcomes, and get work to a finished state. The Scrum Master is an Agile expert and helps the team and the organization at large understand what Scrum/Agile is and creates an environment that fosters high performing teams. 

Accountabilities & Responsibilities  

  • Ensure Scrum ceremonies (e.g., stand ups, sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, etc.) are executed properly, driving team to develop and deploy faster. 
  • Champion Agile CoE standards and processes within the team, being a front-line change agent. 
  • Support Agile Coach in educating the team, executing Agile best practices, promoting self-organization, and driving toward high-functioning teams. 
  • Eliminates blockers and external interferences to development progress. 
  • Helps Product Manager maintain the product backlog and holds team accountable to defining stories at the right level. 
  • Supports Product Manager in defining Definition of Done (DoD) for the product.  
  • Reports to the Product Manager and owns reporting and communication of scrum progress. 
  • Participates in scrum of scrums with other teams as needed. 
  • Addresses issues with their process and holds the squad to quality. 
  • Captures key squad metrics and supports team improvement. 
  • Maintains and cleans up JIRA in alignment with best practices.

    The expected salary range for this role is $129,800- $165,490 per year

    The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.  Ultimately, in determining your pay, we may consider your experience, and other job related factors. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications 

  • 5+ years’ experience in mentoring and guiding Agile teams. 
  • Deep understanding of the Scrum framework, with a demonstrated history of mentoring high performing teams. 
  • Deep understanding Agile software delivery, the path to production and other operational aspects. 
  • Experience with Agile toolsets (e.g., Jira, Confluence, etc.) 
  • Exceptional communications and stakeholder management skills and strong Emotional Intelligence to read verbal and nonverbal cues in others so you can communicate effectively and cultivate healthy working relationships. 
  • Posses one or more Scrum certifications (CSM, PSM) 
  • Willingness and ability to live the McDonald’s values every day: Serve, Inclusion, Integrity, Community, and Family. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Significant work experience playing an active role in Agile transformations. 
  • Demonstrated experience of coaching organization on Agile best practices 
  • Proficiency in change management techniques to facilitate cultural and organizational shifts.  
  • Previous experience in leading or contributing to an Agile Center of Excellence. 
  • Knowledge across several Agile frameworks including, Lean, Agile-Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Extreme Programing (XP). 
  • Experience working in a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry.
