CCE Photography Intern (AY 24-25 901241)

We seek an On-call Photography Intern to support Center for Community Engagement staff to attend and photograph events, and to transfer, organize, and maintain digital media data. The Photography Intern would work on an on-call basis, ranging from 0-3 hours per week based on events and the office’s needs. Events that will be photographed occur on a flexible basis, and the ideal candidate will be able to remain responsive to office needs as they arise.

Responsibilities:

With the CCE Assistant Director, create a weekly schedule of events and documentation goals for each event; attend events and shoot photos
When in the office, greet faculty, students, community partners, and other visitors to the Center for Community Engagement. Provide information about the office and our programs to visitors Process, cull, and select images based on CCE’s media guidelines and store files as appropriate
Represent and serve as an ambassador for the Center for Community Engagement and Middlebury College at events held on- and off-campus
While photographing and attending events, remain mindful of the confidentiality of those being photographed
Help prepare media files for publications, bulletin boards, posters, articles, etc.
Assist with other office responsibilities as needed

Experience Desired:

Strong background with photography composition, digital design, and media processing/editing
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks; self-motivation and the ability to work independently and proactively on projects; previous experience with community service, service-learning, and/or some familiarity with community service in Addison County preferred
Desired: candidate will be able to provide her/his own camera equipment, or will conscientiously borrow Center for Community Engagement equipment
Own transportation recommended but not required, as some events take place off-campus
Familiarity with social media platforms (facebook, blog posts) and willingness to post on behalf of the Center for Community Engagement a plus

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Reliability and a strong commitment to the Center for Community Engagement’s mission

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Student Employment Eligibility:

Unless restricted by certain visa status, all students with an active status for the semester are eligible for jobs on campus.

Students on leave or withdrawn are not eligible to work in student employment positions until the semester in which they return. If you are currently withdrawn or on leave you are eligible to be employed in staff positions.

Some may be restricted due to financial aid status. International students (non-resident aliens) may not work off campus unless they have applied for and received work authorization from the United States government. (An F-1 visa does not give work authorization.) Off campus work study positions are available only to U.S. citizens on financial aid with a federal work study component.

Student are not eligible to work remotely from International locations.

Hour Limitations:

All student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week in on campus jobs during the academic year (this includes exam periods). The only exception is when there is a full week when school is not in session. Specifically: February recess, Spring recess, and full weeks of December or summer recess. During these time periods only, students can work up to 40 hours per week. International Students: Visa restrictions prohibit international students from exceeding 20 hours of work per academic calendar week.
