Commercial Underwriter

Who are we looking for?This position is primarily responsible for preparing financial analyses of current and prospective commercial card customers, analyzing industry and economic conditions, completing cash flow analysis, completing full underwriting presentation and performing credit investigations to make recommendations as to the creditworthiness of borrowers and protect the client bank from losses. The incumbent provides the highest quality of service to every customerExperience: 3+ years of experienceFunctional Skills:• Review and analyze commercial card application documents for completeness, creditworthiness and compliance• Prepare detailed credit memorandums that include financial analysis, repayment ability calculation, industry research and forecasts, collateral analysis, management structure, projections analysis, and guarantor reviews. Prepares cash flow for borrowers according to established policies and procedures accurately and timely to aid in the analysis of a borrower's creditworthiness.• Contacts internal/external customers and other parties as appropriate to gather information and to clarify inconsistent, incorrect or missing information.• Coordinate and incorporate 3rd party reports into the credit analysis• Review tax returns and tax transcripts as part of credit due diligence• Prepare approval letters• Review and address credit approval conditions and covenants• Responsible for demonstrating an understanding of all commercial products, pricing, and coverages. This includes interpretation and demonstrated knowledge of authority level, guidelines, and additional underwriting resource material to achieve quality metrics.• Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.• Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.• Meet production goals while maintaining quality and complianceKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in credit analysis and underwriting of commercial cards• Formal bank Credit Training Program• Computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Office products, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.• Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills are required• Keen analytical, and decision-making skills are required• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships both internally and externally.• Knowledge of accounting, tax laws, bank policies, procedures and government regulations.
