  • 110 -122K p.a per annum + Rā Oranga wellness days
  • 12-month fixed term position

Te Kauniera o Wakatū | Nelson City Council, is on a journey to transform into a more flexible and efficient organisation to better meet the needs of our community. To support making this vision a reality, we are seeking an experienced and strategic change manager to join our newly formed Transformation team on a fixed term basis.

About the role | Kō tēnei tūranga mahi

As Change Manager Transformation, you will oversee critical organisational change projects aimed at enhancing Council operations and services. You will work closely with various stakeholders to enable change and ensure our people are supported through a strategic and structured approach to change management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and support the implementation of change management frameworks, strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage, and minimise resistance
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate change management activities into project plans
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of change initiatives and make necessary adjustments to ensure successful outcomes.
  • With project teams, assist in the development of training plans and programs to equip employees with the necessary skills, proficiency and knowledge to adapt to new ways of work
  • Align change strategies and plans with ‘Shaping our Future’ objectives, ensuring they contribute to overall programme success and obtain desired organisational benefits.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in change management, ideally gained within large-scale transformation projects within a public sector environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage multidisciplinary teams through complex change initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrating the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Sound understanding of change management methodologies and tools, with relevant qualifications (e.g., Prosci methods)
  • A results-driven approach with a focus on achieving objectives and delivering value
  • A passion for driving positive change within the community
