Job Description NSF is a globally recognized organization for public health standards. We conduct testing, auditing, and certification, supported by accredited labs. Additionally, we provide top-tier consulting and training for brands and businesses. Currently, NSF is seeking a Technical Reviewer II (Organics) to join our team. As the Technical Reviewer II (Organics) you will be responsible for reviewing and assessing organic certification applications, documentation, and inspection reports. Your role will involve verifying that client’s practices, processing methods, and record keeping systems align with the NOP organic standards preparing detailed findings and making recommendations for certification decisions. This position emphasizes precision and efficient delivery of technical reviews within the Organics technical review team.Responsibilities• Review of certification documentation (customer application, system plans, product profile forms, inspection, labels, and test reports etc.) against established standards and internal policies/guidelines to determine compliance for certification• Evaluate materials (crop and livestock production inputs, product ingredients, processing aids, etc.) for compliance with organic standards including classification of materials as agricultural, non-synthetic or synthetic• Determine the required compliance testing and evaluation, documenting testing results as necessary for certification or registration services• Serve as mentor and trainer providing technical support to account managers to enhance their understanding, competency, and application of regulations, policies, and procedures• Communicate with clients to review findings and address outstanding issues, offering technical support to clarify any regulatory requirements and concerns• Create certificates, non-compliance letters, product summaries, and other certification documents as directed enabling compliant clients to progress through the certification cycle or to identify issues requiring adverse action via Quality• Evaluate the performance of organic inspectors and provide feedback to the administrative/inspection team and senior review team• Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives• Assist in the development and/or updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and client forms to maintain efficient workflows within the inspection and review department as needed• Represent QAI at industry events such as trade shows, conferences, and meetings• Conduct audits/inspections or certification decisions as assigned• Support new business development efforts through program, quality system, and certification documentation development• Perform other duties as assignedQualifications• Bachelor’s degree• 2-5 year’s experience as an organic certification reviewer• Knowledge and experience of USDA National Organic Program (NOP) or other international organic standards and regulations (NSF ANSI 305, LPO, COR, EU, CARTV, etc.) and knowledge with applying organic certification procedures• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex and technical concepts• Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: conventional crop, livestock, processing, or handling procedures and methods• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications• Demonstrated project and time management skills• Ability to travel occasionally for meetings and eventsPreferred Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, food science, animal science or a related area of science• Experience in organic products regulatory compliance• Successful completion of IOIA training program or equivalent and/or IOIA accreditation/advanced training• A scientific or regulatory backgroundSalary Range: $49,000 - $83,000The total pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
