Women's Sportswear Design Director - Cut & Sew

NYC Alliance Company LLC is seeking a highly experienced Design Director specializing in Cut & Sew to lead our innovative design efforts across multiple apparel categories. This role entails overseeing the design process from concept to production, ensuring each piece resonates with current trends and maintains our brand's integrity.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the design team in developing creative and commercially viable Cut & Sew collections
  • Drive the seasonal direction for design initiatives, ensuring alignment with market trends and customer insights
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including merchandising, production, and development—to ensure design feasibility and excellence in quality
  • Create and oversee the development of technical sketches, tech packs, and other essential design documents
  • Conduct regular trend research and track competitive landscape to influence design direction
  • Manage the fitting process and provide constructive feedback to ensure the best fit and finish for all products
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and fabric manufacturers to ensure the best materials are utilized in collections
  • Participate in presentations to senior management, providing insights into design direction and rationale
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in apparel design, specifically in Cut & Sew
  • Proven leadership experience in managing design teams and driving successful collections
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and manufacturing processes
  • Advanced proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with a high level of attention to detail
