What You’ll Do:
The Business Systems Analyst is accountable for leadership in the analysis of business, systems and process requirements, creation of functional specifications and discovery of opportunities to support integration and implementation of business optimization strategies.
The core parts of your role will be to:
Provide business systems analysis expertise in various business process and system integrations across the organization including implementation of multiple concurrent business initiatives to support projects and technology solutions.
Examine technical user needs and goals. Capture and assess requirements, process and business problems to propose solutions and recommendations that improve existing processes and promote effective and appropriate system solutions.
Build and maintain relationships with management, staff, and stakeholders including vendors to ensure requirements are being met. Engage and inform project stakeholders, SMEs and leaders which may include, identifying and contexting technology trends, defining and deriving metrics and providing or participating in cross departmental education.
Additional activities may include, leading/participating in working groups, information sessions, strategic planning, business capability planning, etc.
Develop functional test plans and strategies and is responsible for the execution of the test plans in conjunction with business units and the project and/or initiative stakeholders
Collaborate with stakeholders to determine project scope, vision, cost benefit analysis, risk factors. Work with stakeholders to develop detailed solutions, estimates, and project plans in support of business goals and in compliance with project methodology.
Translate conceptual user and data requirements into functional requirements in a clear, comprehensible, simplified manner that is comprehensible to all stakeholders.
Follow organizational standards to maintain quality of service and confidentiality
Develop practices and processes to ensure adherence to quality standards, change management and release management processes. Identify strategic opportunities to add value to the business through the technology portfolio and improved processes, standards and methodologies
Accountable to manage and track the status of requirements and can clearly illustrate the connectivity between business goals/needs, defined requirements, delivered solutions, testing and validation throughout the project lifecycle.
Champion and participate in developing and advancing standards related to newer and emerging technologies.
Analyze metrics and provides recommendations/requirements/solutions to improve business intelligence to support management decisions.
Support enterprise architecture and technology roadmaps by providing guidance on solution design that contributes to the overall requirements and organizational strategies and goals.
Provide technical leadership to junior team members and performs other duties within the Business Systems Analyst function, as assigned.

This is the unique blend of skills and experience we would love to see in an ideal candidate:
A university degree, college diploma or certification in a related field with advanced knowledge of best practices employed by the IIBA and BABOK.
5+ years of progressive experience in process design, business analysis, testing and information technology business solutions
High level of organizational ability with project management experience.
Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets and present findings to enable effective business solutions
Exceptional interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders. Excellent presentation, facilitation and influencing skills required.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Experience with the Microsoft 365 suite of products including. SharePoint, Project, Power Automate is desirable.
Experience working on multiple systems projects in parallel.
Knowledge of the Educational, Insurance, Financial and/or Call centre Industries is considered an asset.
Data warehousing and business intelligence experience is considered an asset.
Expert knowledge of systems analysis and design techniques; including strong understanding of design and development tools. Experience with analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Power BI, and Tableau)
Proven ability to coach and mentor on technical solutions and business context.
Process related certification/designation or commitment to complete is an asset.
Exceptional ability to use innovative and effective methods to analyze data and produce business solutions that meet process and system requirements.
Demonstrated leadership with the ability to drive the implementation of complex business and system solutions with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
Experience with issue tracking systems, working in agile/scrum environment, web, digital and mobile technology experience is an asset.
