About Outdoorsy

Outdoorsy's team is inspired by a mission to restore our relationship with the outdoors and each other by inviting guests to Live Outdoorsy. Storytelling and community building has been an integral reason for our company’s growth and as we approach our 10th year we are looking to further invest in this area. This role will help tell the stories that inspire travel and appreciation of the outdoors for families everywhere.

About the role

We are looking for a Content Creator to join our creative team on a 6 month contract starting in January 2025.  In this role, you’ll be a vital part of developing and creating video content that supports our marketing, brand, and communication goals. As a creator, you’ll concept and capture impactful stories that engage our audience whether it’s inspiring first time guests to take a trip, visit one of our signature destinations, get to know our hosts or book one of our new product experiences. 

This is a hybrid role based out of our headquarters in Austin, with a mix of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility for on-location shoots. A candidate’s ability and desire to travel frequently for production is highly important for this role (with the ‘Outdoorsy Mobile Creative Studio’, a Mercedes Sprinter at their disposal). 

This position starts as a contract role but with potential for full-time.

Responsibilities

As a Content Creator at Outdoorsy, you’ll be responsible for capturing, editing video content with a focus on creativity, consistency, and high production value. Reporting to the VP Brand Marketing, you’ll collaborate closely with the broader marketing team and social media manager to deliver content that aligns with Outdoorsy’s brand values and connects with our audience across all social platforms.

The ideal candidate is an adaptable and creator with hybrid, run-and-gun experience in video editing, production, and post-production for social channels. You should have a strong ability to craft visually compelling stories that align with the Outdoorsy brand, combining creative vision with technical expertise..

  • Concept development: develop content ideas that engage AND grow our following on social channels and that can live across Outdoory’s product surfaces. These ideas need to connect with culture and inspire meaningful engagement
  • Content Creation: Capture high-quality video content using a variety of equipment, including iPhones, mirrorless cameras, and professional production cameras, ensuring content aligns with Outdoorsy’s brand style
  • Editing & Post-Production: Strong editing skills to create polished, engaging videos with compelling storytelling and pacing. You'll handle tasks like trimming footage, refining audio, adding transitions, and integrating simple graphics.
  • Motion Graphics: Create impactful, simple motion graphics to elevate the visual quality of content and highlight key messaging esp within social channels.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the marketing and creative teams to brainstorm, plan, and execute video projects that reflect Outdoorsy’s mission and resonate with our community.
  • On-Camera Presence (Bonus): Engage with our audience directly by occasionally appearing on camera for social media or other content needs, bringing a personal touch to our brand’s storytelling.

Experience that will help you make an impact:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Content Creator, videographer, editor or similar role.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing creative video concepts, high-quality content creation
  • Experience of creating content that has grown a social media account(s) for a brand or organization
  • Solid understanding of how to create engagement through social channels, through use of posting and creative strategies
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) and basic graphic design tools (e.g., After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Familiarity with color grading techniques and basic motion graphics (e.g., DaVinci Resolve)
  • Strong storytelling abilities and a keen eye for visually communicating brand messaging
  • Skilled with a range of camera equipment, from smartphones to mirrorless and production-grade cameras
  • Proven experience at being resourceful and the passion to be a self-starter and to work independently to produce work to deadlines and within budget
  • A passion for social media culture and popular culture at large 
  • Love for the outdoors, travel and telling stories of how it changes people
  • (Bonus) Experience or comfort with on-camera appearances for social media or branded content

$32.00 - $37.00 hourly DOE

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with potentially applicable laws. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and bonus dependent upon position.
