ABOUT THE JOB:
The Director of Marketing will be responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing strategy and growing brand awareness while also enabling revenue across Wholesale and DTC channels.
The Director of Marketing is a key member of the Leadership Team that will be responsible for all elements of the brand experience in retail and digital channels.
The Director will oversee the successful execution of the marketing strategy which includes all consumer-facing communication, website, trade/in-store marketing as well as events including both consumer and trade events as well as the
oversight of the annual marketing budget.
The primary objectives of the Director is to grow the brand audience and increase the brand awareness across all geographic regions. The Director will be accountable for brand building and positioning, digital marketing and engagement to drive revenue across channels. The Director will provide strategic direction for the department while being a dynamic, hands-on leader who excels at leading a team.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing Strategy & Performance:
•Oversee all marketing activities, calendar and projects including media, website, direct marketing, social media, database management. Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy to drive demand-creation leading to revenue growth efforts in wholesale and DTC
•Develop and execute wholesale trade strategies to grow the brand share, traffic and conversion across the diverse North America geographies, distribution channels (including Specialty Surf, Specialty Fish/Tackle/Outfitters, Sporting Goods, Teen Retail, Dept Stores and Wholesale eCommerce retailers, etc.)
•Drive wholistic digital strategy across all communication channels including (but not limited to) Social, Website, EDM, SMS, Paid and Non-Paid – to further build the engaged audience while also supporting and driving engagement and value for loyal brand fans
•In partnership with Brand founder/Head of Creative, develop and execute the annual brand and product campaigns across all marketing channels including trade and digital commerce
•Collect, analyze and interpret campaign performance data to make data-driven
optimizations for current and future campaigns
•Develop consistent reporting and campaign recap methodology, setting standards for monitoring and tracking for all digital channels
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
•Partner with Creative team through all content to build necessary assets for use across all marketing channels
•Partner with ECOM team in all areas including Digital/Performance marketing, site content, merchandising, Social Media campaign strategy, to drive revenue to website
•Partner with the Sales, Creative and Product teams to create compelling assets to drive wholesale sell-in
Leadership:
•Provide oversight and development of Marketing team
•Coach, mentor, and develop the Marketing team, while promoting a culture of high
performance and continuous improvement that values innovation and a commitment to excellence
•Ensure appropriate organization structure and staffing levels while developing bench strength
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Exceptional track record of developing and implementing marketing strategies that have consistently met or exceeded planned revenue and strategic objectives
•Experience using marketing as a tool for driving sales by creating demand and motivating consumers to purchase
•Ability to think critically
•Outstanding organizational skills, ability to follow through and capable of meeting deadlines while balancing multiple projects and priorities – with consistent attention to detail
•Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
•Possess and demonstrates a strong proficiency in communication skills, both written and verbal. Comfortable and experienced with public speaking and group presentations
•Excellent judgement and ability to develop, leverage and maintain relationships
•Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays and the capability to travel as required
Minimum requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management or equivalent education experience
•At least 5 years of progressive oversight and relevant experience in marketing leadership roles
•Proven track record of developing and executing marketing strategies resulting in revenue growth; meeting or exceeding organizational sales targets
