Planned Companies – Payroll Specialist – Job Description

 

 

Summary

Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the qualified candidate will be responsible for various aspects of the payroll function for hourly employees.  

Hybrid Schedule, 3 days in the office, 2 days work from home 8:30AM-5:00PM

Pay rate: $55,000-$60,000

Location: Parsippany, NJ

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain payroll information by adhering to the established controls & processes, overseeing the collection, calculation, and entering of payroll data.
  • Comfortable working with a proprietary time and attendance software which ultimately feeds our UKG payroll software.
  • Oversee wage garnishment process performed by offshore team.
  • Process monthly “Living Our Core” bonus checks to recognized employees.
  • Bi-weekly transmission/reconciliation of 401(k) files to our administrator.
  • Monitor the general payroll voicemail and address issues accordingly.
  • Pay employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts for the company’s weekly and bi-weekly payroll cycles.
  • Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Assist with department-wide special projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • 1 -2 years of experience in a payroll function – payroll for a large number of hourly employees (at least 2,500 employees) – preferably in the service industry
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Bi-lingual (English & Spanish fluency)
  • Experience using large payroll software solutions such as UKG (Ultipro), ADP, Paychex or other software solutions
  • Problem solving skills
  • Proficient at MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Team player, highly organized
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment including working overtime hours as necessary
