Director of Partnerships (Remote)

Overview of the role:

Join us at PolicyMe! We're modernizing insurance and we'd like your help. The Canadian insurance landscape has remained largely unchanged for decades and we are in the process of changing that. We're a remote-first, Toronto-based startup with big ambitions.

About the Role

As we scale, we’re looking for a Director of Partnerships to take ownership of our external partner relationships—ensuring smooth execution, optimizing collaboration across teams, and driving strategic initiatives that maximize value for both PolicyMe and our partners.

This is a role that requires a mix of strategic thinking, relationship management, and executional excellence. You'll act as the primary point of contact for partners, owning high-stakes initiatives and ensuring alignment across internal teams (Product, Operations, Growth, Engineering, and Customer Success). The right human will be a trusted advisor to our partners, balancing big-picture strategy with hands-on project execution.

We are not looking for a salesperson—this role is about executive-level stakeholder management, problem-solving, and structuring high-impact partnerships.

What you'll be doing:
  • Own & Manage Key Partnerships: Act as the primary liaison for strategic partners, fostering trust, identifying opportunities, and addressing key challenges.
  • Drive External Project Planning & Execution: Define partnership roadmaps, outline key milestones, and ensure smooth execution across all phases.
  • Lead New Partner Activation: Support onboarding and go-to-market strategies for new partners by crafting documentation, structuring workflows, and establishing best practices.
  • Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with PolicyMe’s internal teams (Product, Operations, Growth, Engineering, Customer Success) to drive alignment and execution on partner initiatives.
  • Proactively Solve Challenges: Anticipate execution risks, troubleshoot roadblocks, and ensure smooth collaboration between internal and external teams.
  • Refine & Elevate Our Partnership Strategy: Continuously optimize how we engage with partners, improve processes, and drive long-term success.
  • Execute Independently with High Impact: This is a hands-on role—while you’ll work closely with leadership, you’ll also be expected to own and deliver high-impact projects without needing a large support team.

What we are looking for:
  • 5+ years of experience in fields related to strategic partnership management—you’ve worked in the management consulting, investment banking, private equity, or at a previous partner-driven start-up
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills—you’ve worked with senior executives, managed complex partnerships, and built long-term trust.
  • Strong project execution skills—you can own and manage high-impact projects across multiple stakeholders.
  • Cross-functional collaboration experience—you know how to work with teams across Product, Operations, Growth, and Engineering to get things done.
  • Problem-solving mindset—you thrive on tackling ambiguous challenges, structuring solutions, and ensuring execution stays on track.
  • High ownership & adaptability—you’re proactive, resourceful, and comfortable navigating a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Strong communicator & strategic thinker—you can distill complex ideas into clear action plans and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Reports To: VP of Business Operations

Why join us:
  • Generous PTO - 20 vacation days
  • Access to stock options and a comprehensive benefits plan
  • A remote-first team with company paid, in-person socials and the option to work from our Toronto-based office
  • Resources to help your professional development, including an L&D budget, performance reviews twice a year and ongoing feedback to ensure you reach your highest potential
  • Work with an empathetic, high-performing team in a flexible, results-oriented environment
