MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIP

POWDR is seeking a motivated and curious Marketing & Communications Intern for Summer 2025 to support strategic marketing and communications efforts across its diverse portfolio of outdoor experience businesses—focusing on National Park concessions and POWDR brand.

This internship offers hands-on experience within a fast-paced and purpose-driven marketing environment, providing the opportunity to contribute to real projects and gain insight into the outdoor recreation industry.

About the Role

  • Duration : 2–3 months, based on candidate availability
  • Schedule: Part-time (20 hours/week)
  • Reports to: Casey Scherer, Director – POWDR & Parks Marketing
  • Works closely with: Stacey Hutchinson, VP – POWDR Communications & Government Relations

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing – Parks & Recreation (National Park Concessions)

  • Assist in developing a blog content strategy and writing articles for Zion and Death Valley National Parks
  • Support updates to CRM content and website copy for Zion and Death Valley
  • Contribute to creative project management and coordination of design assets for park marketing campaigns

Communications - POWDR

  • Refine and build media contact lists to support press and PR efforts across POWDR businesses
  • Assist with updates to POWDR brand assets, including HR onboarding materials and corporate website content

Research Project

Conduct an in-depth research project exploring key trends in National Park visitor behavior and content strategy. Topics may include:

  • Visitor demographics, preferences, and expectations—what are travelers seeking from lodging, dining, retail, and overall park experiences?
  • Generational shifts and emerging trends: Gen Z and Millennial behaviors, DEI, solo travel, and women in outdoor recreation
  • Online Profile Toolkit – Google Business Profile & Expedia 5 photos and description
  • Social media and content strategy benchmarking—what types of content are being created (e.g., reels, longform, memes), on which platforms, and what’s performing best?

Ideal Candidate

  • Enthusiastic about outdoor recreation and storytelling
  • Strong research, writing, and organizational skills
  • Familiar with and desire to learn about digital content platforms (social media, blogs, CRM)
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
