Major Responsibilities:
  • Operates and inspects pumping and wellhead equipment to ensure proper operation and recover maximum production. Utilizes SCADA equipment for well surveillance to optimize production and prevent spills.
  • Knows basic operation and proper maintenance of electrical panels, gas engines, testers, phase separators, water knock outs, heaters and stock tanks, and all other on-site wellhead equipment and compressors.
  • Assists with routine maintenance of production equipment, learning to check wellhead compressors.
  • Detects oil, water or gas leaks, and broken seals on tank valves. Also uses proper ESEIP procedures.
  • Performs more complex maintenance and repairs; handles more complex, non-routine issues than those handled by less experienced Production Operators. Determines when semi-routine repairs or adjustments are needed and reports them to Lead or Supervisor.
  • Reads and records daily numbers from lease oil and gas measurement equipment. Differentiates between normal and abnormal readings such as pressure readings; resets or makes valve repairs as necessary. Identifies urgent situations and acts appropriately.
  • Ensures tank thief hatches are securely closed.
  • Enters daily production readings, well test readings, downtime and run tickets into current electronic systems.
  • Advises water haulers when water is ready for pickup and disposal.
  • Collects, analyzes and resets malfunctions on automated wells.
  • Attends well reviews and provide input towards well performance.
  • Runs required reports and recognizes when well production is declining; decides how to fix, repair or adjust equipment to retain or recover lost production.
  • Completes required training and proactive measures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor, to include special projects.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • 6 months oil and gas equivalent experience or 6 months PNR Production Operator IV experience required. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills required of the position.
  • A current valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
  • Able to easily read pressure gauges and complete paperwork.
  • Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with mobile applications.
  • Proficient in appropriate use of hand tools such as grease guns and wrenches, to lubricate or tighten equipment.
Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand or walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop or bend; and talk or hear.
  • Ability to climb a ladder and stairs.
  • The employee will be driving assigned Company vehicle on unpaved lease roads.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
