Project Delivery Manager - Bulk Power Generation - Remote (US)

Job Description

The Project Delivery Manager for bulk power generation in the United States is responsible for the successful delivery of AutoGrid's products and services supporting customer owned bulk electric generation and storage facilities. This role plays a key part in the documentation, contracting, and coordination of the commissioning of large scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage facilities operated by some of the largest energy companies in the world. Execution of the role requires close attention to detail, strong operational knowledge of the interconnection and operation of large renewable power generation and storage facilities, and good working knowledge of related control system concepts including computer networking, SCADA protocols, and common system architectures.

The Project Delivery Manager acts as the primary point of contact for all customer, vendor, regional transmission operator, and third party communication to ensure that work streams are coordinated and stakeholders have visibility into obstacles as they are encountered. Clear, responsive, and precise communication skills as well as good organization abilities are very important to successfully delivering this role. Technical qualifications include, but are not limited to, working knowledge of bulk scale renewable power generation controls and protocols, integration technologies including ICCP, Modbus, and DNP3, and operational technology networking and cyber security concepts.

What You’ll Do

  • Capture customer requirements and the nuance of expectations in scopes of work, project delivery schedules, and effectively communicate these artifacts with key project stakeholders;
  • Work with utility and ISO/RTO EMS/GMS teams to define ICCP transfer sets, facility integrators to define point lists, and internal staff to ensure that they're implemented and tested successfully;
  • Develop project plans and manage integration budgets to ensure that the completion of project milestones are on budget;
  • Review with clients their existing or new utility scale solar projects (generally 50 MW or greater) including market integration, interconnection, operations, stakeholder management, and all related budgets;
  • Communicate on a regular basis in meetings or with presentations to both client and internal team members, including visits to both client offices and AutoGrid's CA headquarters as needed to foment strong collaboration among a multidisciplinary team based in Redwood Shores;
  • Provide the ability for stakeholders to monitor and manage the progress of projects via periodic meetings to assess the development status, issue resolution, budget and schedule of each project;
  • Foster and maintain key customer, subcontractor, and ISO/RTO relationships;
  • Provide business vendor reviews and qualifications to strengthen and maintaining existing contacts of major equipment suppliers and develop new vendor relationships;
  • Understand and stay up to date on the forces driving the integration of various battery technologies into variable renewable projects as appropriate or where regional market conditions support the deployment of energy storage systems;
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes, including applicable client, wholesale market, and NERC requirements;

What We’re Looking for (Required)

  • BS in an applied science with minimum of five years of experience developing, operating, or supporting large scale solar, wind, and/or battery energy storage projects (50 MW or larger) in the US ISO/RTO markets (ERCOT is a bonus);
  • Strong fluency in solar, wind, and storage project finance, contracts, utility interconnection, and construction/ EPC issues;
  • Advanced technical knowledge (e.g., familiarity with renewable and battery energy storage technologies, power markets, legislation, regulatory issues);
  • Confidence and ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization;
  • Working knowledge of the ICCP, DNP3, and Modbus protocols;
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident and pass a background check;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills ;
  • Experience using project management tools such as Trello, MS Project, or similar;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with limited oversight and when faced with ambiguous or novel project requirements;
