About the role 

PTW Braga is currently seeking for a detail-oriented and motivated individual with a passion for languages and localization to join our team on a full time and temporary basis. This role involves assisting with the cleaning and optimization of Translation Memories (TMs), creating and updating glossaries, and supporting localization workflows. This is an excellent opportunity for a linguistic student or someone looking to gain practical experience in the field of translation and localization technology.

Key Responsibilities: 

Translation Memory Maintenance:

  • Review and clean Translation Memories (TMs) to ensure they are accurate and consistent.
  • Assist in aligning TMs with updated terminology and language style guidelines.
  • Perform basic quality assurance checks to improve TM usability.

Glossary Creation & Updates:

  • Help develop and maintain bilingual glossaries for consistent use of terminology.
  • Work with team members to identify and document relevant terminology.
  • Update glossaries as needed to reflect new terms and changes.

Localization Support:

  • Assist in creating and reviewing localization prompts for content localization.
  • Test translated prompts for linguistic and cultural appropriateness.
  • Collaborate with team members to refine prompts based on feedback.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with translators, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth workflows.
  • Provide input on improving localization processes and tools.

Quality Checks:

  • Conduct basic linguistic quality checks on translated content.
  • Flag any issues or inconsistencies for further review.

Requirements 

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Linguistics, Translation Studies, Languages, or a related field.
  • Basic familiarity with translation tools such as SDL Trados, MemoQ, or Wordfast (training can be provided).
  • Strong attention to detail and interest in working with language data.
  • Good understanding of language nuances and cultural differences in translation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency in English and in your native language. Knowledge of an additional language is a plus.
  • Candidate must reside within Portugal and with legal right to live and work in Portugal.

Preferred but not Required:

  • Exposure to translation management systems (TMS) or computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools.
  • Interest in machine translation and post-editing.
  • Experience with quality assurance processes for translations.Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Linguistics, Translation Studies, Languages, or a related field.
