Job Title: Lead Mechanic (Machine Assembly or Sheet Metal)

Location: Louisa, VA

Duration: Full Time, Contract to Hire

Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Salary: Up to $26/hour (depending on experience and position)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Mechanic with expertise in either Machine Assembly or Sheet Metal work to join our team in Louisa, VA.


This position is ideal for individuals who have proven experience in their respective fields and are ready to take on a leadership role. Competitive compensation is available, with a higher pay scale for those who demonstrate exceptional skills and leadership abilities.


For Machine Assembly:
  • Assembly Leadership: Lead the assembly of machines and mechanical components according to specifications and instructions.
  • Tool Usage: Guide team members in utilizing various hand and power tools for assembly, repair, and maintenance of machinery.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read, interpret, and ensure the correct application of blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the inspection of assembled parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex assembly issues, providing guidance to team members.


For Sheet Metal:
  • Press Brake Operation: Lead the operation of a press brake, including bending up to 3/4" pipe and handling other heavy materials.
  • Plate Rolling: Oversee the use of plate rollers to roll up to 3/8" thick plates, ensuring precision and quality.
  • Blueprint Reading: Accurately interpret blueprints to determine appropriate tooling and procedures for material bending.
  • Tool Selection: Lead the selection of proper tooling for various materials, ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of the operation.
  • Setup and Calibration: Guide the setup and adjustment of back gauges for accurate bending operations.


Requirements:
  • Proven experience in machine assembly or sheet metal work
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams
  • Proficiency with relevant tools (hand and power tools for machine assembly; press brakes and plate rollers for sheet metal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Leadership skills and experience in managing a team


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within your field - at least 5 years.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with heavy materials and large-scale projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to mentor and lead a team.
