At Atlas, we’re building the infrastructure for global work. We’re the only benefits platform that allows employees anywhere in the world to activate health plans, meal benefits, or gym memberships (among many others) right in their local city. Additionally, we provide HR teams with tools to manage their global teams, reducing their operational workload and functioning as “HR as a service.”
From a technical perspective, this means integrating with distributed systems worldwide (both old and new, with and without APIs), managing globally distributed operations and users, and prioritizing the scalability of our systems. To move fast and build an incredible product, we’re looking for engineers who value technical excellence, make user-centric decisions, and enjoy working in a highly autonomous environment.
What We Need
We’re looking for a backend developer who is passionate about architecture and building scalable systems. Our backend is built in Node.js, and our infrastructure runs on AWS. We use PostgreSQL as our database and have a microservices architecture.
We're seeking someone who not only brings strong technical expertise but also keeps the end-user in mind and takes pride in creating a product that impacts many people. Startup experience is a big plus, especially if you've been part of a team navigating rapid growth. We're after curious, technically driven individuals who are eager to propose improvements and take full ownership of our systems.
What You’ll Do
Collaborate with different teams and clients to deliver end-to-end solutions with scalability, business impact, and speed in mind.
Develop scalable systems using microservices in Node.js (or other solutions as needed).
Write clean, commented, and well-tested code that your teammates can easily understand.
Review PRs and act as a guardian of code quality and scalability.
Propose system improvements that help us work faster, save costs, solve scaling issues, or generate new revenue streams.
Work extensively with AWS services, including Lambda, EC2, RDS, SQS, and DynamoDB.
What We’re Looking For
Someone passionate about technical quality.
Ownership-driven individuals.
A balance between speed and quality.
A love for working with equally passionate teammates.
A genuine interest in how your work impacts users.
A passion for products.
When You Shouldn’t Apply
If you rely on a PM to hand you tasks.
If you’re focused only on your code and not on the product or its business impact.
If you wait for requirements instead of proactively seeking them out.
If you can rest easy knowing production is broken because someone else will fix it.
If an employer mentions a salary or salary range on their job, we display it as an "Employer Estimate". If a job has no salary data, Rise displays an estimate if available.
