Head of Public Relations and Strategic Communications

Role Summary

Rowan Digital Infrastructure is looking for a Head of Public Relations & Strategic Communications to help Rowan tell the story about our portfolio of data center projects. This role will be a critical part of the team that works directly with executive leadership and subject matter experts (SMEs) from across the business to protect and bolster Rowan’s reputation as one of the market’s preferred build-to-suit data center developers.

The Head of Public Relations & Strategic Communications is responsible for the evolving development and implementation of Rowan’s project communications plans. This position will have oversight over media relations and represent Rowan via multiple channels.

This role will help to maintain Rowan’s portfolio of projects in good standing with our community partners by developing and executing strategic communications plans at each project site. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully working in public relations, strategic communications, social media, and brand management. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to multitask, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Travel: Ability to travel up to (25%) for company gatherings or to project sites 

Location: Denver, CO  (hybrid), Remote may be considered for highly qualified candidates

Compensation: $160-$200K - Offers Bonus

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of Rowan’s Public Relations & Communications Strategy based on reputational needs and company plans and metrics

  • Draft communications campaign materials, including: pitch decks, talking points, and presentations with support from SMEs

  • Support development and execution of marketing strategy, including conference attendance planning, special events, and identification of various branding opportunities

  • Devise other innovative ways for Rowan leadership to build the company’s reputation in the industry through social media, speaking engagements, podcasts, newsletters, and other channels, that leverage Rowan’s previous successful project-specific media coverage

  • Structure and execute project-specific communications/engagement campaigns for ongoing and forthcoming portfolio projects

  • Establish key relationships with public relations partners and act as Rowan’s point-of-contact for media inquiries, including proactive media engagement and reactive news management

  • Formulate a strategy to identify and pitch positive stories about Rowan’s activities to deliver a pipeline of proactive positive media coverage

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and a minimum 5 years of experience in PR/Communications

  • Demonstrated ability to align public relations and public affairs strategies with organizational goals, anticipate trends, and drive growth through exceptional stakeholder management and business acumen

  • Significant experience in managing external communications, corporate issues/opportunities and project management

  • Experience executing media campaigns, crisis management, building relationships with media and working with executives

  • Team player with exceptional project management and decision-making skills

  • Experience working with, influencing and presenting to executive leadership

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, and highly cross-functional environment

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Public policy/government affairs experience preferred

  • Experience communicating with senior leaders and executives at all levels of the organization

  • Knowledge of policy impacting data center/large industrial development preferred

  • Experience with legislative tracking for targeted industries preferred
