PACU
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a Critical Care Unit providing care for patients who are recovering from surgery. In this role, you will monitor and assess patients’ vital signs recovering from anesthesia, identify and address any complications or changes in patient conditions, educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery expectations, and collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

As a Registered Nurse in the PACU at Unity Hospital, you will play a vital role in the recovery process of patients post-surgery. This full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week, generally follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 6 AM to 11 PM, with the expectation of being part of an on-call rotation. Your responsibilities will include closely monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring their vital signs are stable, and addressing any complications that may arise. You'll engage with patients and their families, educating them about post-operative care and setting realistic recovery expectations. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team consisting of anesthesiologists, surgeons, and fellow nurses, you'll ensure that every patient receives top-notch, individualized care. To excel in this role, you’ll need a registered nursing license in New York State and, while a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred, a diploma or associate's degree will suffice. Additionally, having at least six months of experience and a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification will be beneficial.
