PHYSICIAN BILLING COORDINATOR

Independently responsible for claims processing and analysis; contacts responsible parties to resolve past-due accounts; investigates account status and identifying root causes and process improvements for errors in assigned accounts. Responsible for physician and office staff training to produce a clean claim. Provides excellent customer service through cooperative working relationships. The physician billing coordinator has a direct impact on patient safety and revenue-related denial reductions. Errors or underpayments to physicians could lead to specialty physicians backing out of the Trauma and Emergency Department back-up coverage, which would undermine the organization s compliance with the Federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act. The physician billing coordinator is also responsible for all aspects of the documentation and disposition of remains at the hospital, to include knowledge of the requirements for various state agencies managing different aspects of decedent affairs to include Health and Human Services, Medical Examiner, Public Administration and Life Sharing. Errors could lead to a violation of a variety of State regulations and possible omission of identification of criminal negligence.
