Senior Manager, Talent Management

The team:

The opportunity:

Datadog is looking for a Head of Talent Management to create, implement and evaluate a new strategy for the identification and development of talent to retain and engage our future leaders. Your focus will be related to performance feedback, talent review, talent calibration and succession planning – with early focus on building and establishing consistent, global processes for best in class talent management practices. This role is critical to the execution of organization-wide performance feedback cycles and talent planning programs as we rapidly scale.

You will have the opportunity to make a big impact at Datadog by leading the team that oversees the global performance feedback process, internal mobility, career growth planning and more. Each process will require iterative design, build and implementation plans as we continue to improve and fine tune them. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing a new global talent review process for talent planning. You will also partner closely with Leaders and People Business Partners to lead and facilitate talent calibration discussions that drive impactful talent decisions and outcomes.

As the leader of our Talent Management function, your team will significantly shape our talent management strategies and enable us to build impactful activities that support the business in addressing critical talent challenges as we grow and scale our company. The successful candidate will serve as an expert across the organization and will be highly adept at driving initiatives forward collaboratively and influentially. 

You will:

  • Lead, drive, and build global process around our core talent management activities to include Performance Feedback, Talent Review, Talent Calibration, Succession Planning, Talent Pooling, Leadership Competencies and more
  • Apply a subject matter expertise skill set to ensure the talent management activities successfully meet the needs of our company
  • Offer tech-forward solutions that can scale without losing the human element
  • Create an approach for on-going impact measurement with Datadog leaders and employees to preserve culture and push forward core business strategies and outcomes
  • Build, iterate and improve upon every cycle of global talent management activities

You Are:

  • 10+ years experience specialized in Talent Management, HR business partner, or similar project roles preferably in the technology industry, with 5+ years experience leading a team of talent management professionals
  • Proficient in modern talent management frameworks, succession planning, talent pooling, talent calibration, performance feedback models 
  • Growth mindset, willing and able to pivot and iterate as needed 
  • Experienced in driving forward talent management outcomes with the engineering population (tech-fluent)
  • Support system as SME to key leadership and PBPs - can be leaned on to provide deeper insights and effectively share the ‘whys’
  • Experienced in designing and implementing organizational change or transformation initiatives, balancing scalable with straightforward solutions
  • Experience working with fast growing, tech orgs that are standing up talent management processes to shape a multi year strategy
  • Enjoys exercising strong consultative skills to drive results, including a healthy mix of strategic thinking and creative problem solving
  • Possesses highly effective and eloquent written and verbal communication skills
  • Has a strong skill set in storytelling and understand how to leverage this skill set in talent management

Bonus points:

  • Degree in HR, Organizational Development, I/O Psychology, or a related field
  • Working familiarity with Workday
