This role requires an analytical and experienced financial mind. You are a detail oriented technical accountant. You are comfortable working with all teams including at the executive level and you seek to be a part of the company’s financial processes and reporting. You strive to deliver not only the “what” of financial position, but also the “why.”
The Senior Accountant will work closely with the technical and operations teams on a daily basis. The Senior Accountant will be involved in corporate accounting including close processes, timely financial reporting, data integrity management within the ERP (Netsuite), plus some administrative responsibilities for the company. This person will have experience in process improvement and is driven to find efficiencies.This position will report directly to the Financial Controller and work closely with the Accounting Supervisor and Accounting Analyst.
Responsibilities
● Continually improve and execute the company’s month end close schedules and processes, including all balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, proper revenue recognition, inventory integrity, fixed assets, any other accrual entries, and Income Statement analysis
● Prepare accurate monthly financial statements in a timely manner
● Perform ad-hoc analysis as requested
● Review ERP transactions are working as anticipated and identify discrepancies between reporting platforms
● Detect problems and recommend courses of action designed to correct or reduce their impact
● Be involved in new business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls and improve accounting department efficiency
● Assist the Financial Controller in the preparation of regulatory reporting for compliance with local, state, federal and international government reporting requirements and tax filings
● Participate in annual financial & inventory audit processes
● Cross train with Accounting Supervisor
● Support company with miscellaneous administrative needs
● Fluent in English - spoken and written. You will need to communicate complicated accounting and business topics with other teams, in English every week.
● Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting processes and internal controls
● CPA
● Minimum 5 years of progressive Accounting experience with at least 2 in a senior role
● Understanding of and experience accounting for all transactions in every accounting cycle (Fixed assets, inventory, accruals & prepaids, and general ledger)
● In depth understanding of month end closing processes including all balance sheet reconciliations and income statement review
● Proactive and willing to work under pressure, ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
● Serious attention to detail and willingness to get in the weeds to solve problems and improve financial accuracy
● Experience operating GL within an integrated ERP system, very strong preference given to individuals who have worked with NetSuite specifically
● Experience with e-commerce and/or subscription B2C sales on Shopify & Amazon Seller Central in a plus
● Strong planning and organization skills in a fast-paced environment
● Continuous improvement attitude; ability to independently seek out and implement internal or external best practices
● Self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills
● Possess a high degree of personal integrity and strong professional ethics
● Works graciously under pressure in a courteous and cooperative manner
● The ability to take responsibility and “ownership” of the work completed and to “own up” to any errors, omissions or issues directly related to the work produced
● Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications
