Social Media Manager

We strongly encourage people of color, transgender and non-binary people to apply. HRC is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes everyone, including non-LGBTQ+ people, to join our team. Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that people from marginalized communities are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At HRC, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

Strategy Coordination:

  • Work alongside fellow teams, namely the Digital Content & Strategy team, to help inform HRC’s digital presence across platforms.
  • Provide social media analytics for use in reports, debriefs, etc.
  • Meet with outside teams, both in Digital Communications and inter-departmentally, to track ongoing content strategy and needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required with at least two years of experience in social media and content development.
  • A skilled and fast writer and a creative, empathetic thinker who can take complicated issues and translate them into plain language and visual concepts (including short-form video) suited for communicating online.
  • Interest in social media platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Facebook and Twitter, and management tools like Tweetdeck or Sprout Social.
  • Experience with political campaigns or advocacy organizations preferred.
  • Experience with social media reporting and analytics preferred.
  • Personal interest in and alignment with HRC’s values, and with the broader fight for LGBTQ+ equality and the liberation of those who are multiply marginalized.
  • Travel around 10% will be required. This travel may include evenings, weekends, and overnight stays.

All positions at the Human Rights Campaign may require travel on a regular basis or periodically. Where the need arises for business travel, appropriate compensation as outlined by the Fair Labor Standards Act will apply.
