Your role in helping us shape the future:

The Solutions Architect, Cloud position is vital to ensuring the pursuit, solution design and successful capture of technically complex SATCOM opportunities with a primary focus in virtualization, cloud and software defined networking technologies at IGS. This position resides within the Solutions Architecture Group and interfaces primarily with Sales and Business Development teams along with other stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a strong, systems engineering, SDN and managed network services background with the demonstrated ability to lead End-to-End Satellite Communications solutions design efforts – including architecting key elements of the solution, evaluating technical options, and leading cross-functional teams towards a final solution while keeping all the company's key stakeholders apprised, as the opportunity proceeds through the capture/proposal gates. The successful candidate will possess the technical understanding and astuteness to analyze RFPs quickly, identify pivotal technical elements and work with IGS cross-functional teams, our partners and small businesses to craft winning solutions. Work will take place in a fast-paced environment with numerous concurrent demands. The ideal candidate will bring a solutions-oriented perspective with the agility and insight to explore and evaluate multiple solutions options (along with the implications thereof and the dependencies within) while ensuring continuous progress towards a written proposal written in a compelling manner.

Are you up to the challenge?

  • Technical Lead on Targeted Opportunities – from Capture through Proposal and to Submission
  • End-to-End solutions development to include system-level optimization across SATCOM and IP layers
  • Technical writing and editing to create a compelling technical/management response
  • Work closely with the Sales/BD and Engineering Team in conjunction with the Proposal Manager
  • Lead technical proposal writing and technical review meetings
  • Review, edit and refine outlines, storyboards, technical proposals (text and graphics) – ensure clarity, conformance, consistency, and completeness but go beyond it to make for a compelling narrative
  • Identify internal and external resources required for the success of the proposal effort
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Intelsat and 3rd-party satellite assets (including LEO and GEO) network infrastructure and product/service offerings
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of current virtualization and cloud technologies and services
  • Conduct Market Research and Competitive Intelligence studies including supporting business case development
  • Identify key solution elements of RFP/RFIs, including technical implications thereof
  • Review engineering solutions for accuracy and compliance
  • Work with engineering to ensure compliance of proposed solution
  • Write proposal responses to government contract solicitations succinctly in a compelling manner
  • Expert proposal writing skills to include rewriting/editing key elements of technical solution description in a compelling manner to deliver superior, differentiated solutions
  • Ability to drill down into the details, dependencies and implications while being cognizant of/and working towards big-picture aspects of the proposal

You should definitely have:

  • US Citizenship
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance at the TS/SCI level
  • B.S in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent technical degree
  • Cloud/virtualization/SDN engineering knowledge through a combination of formal certifications and hands-on experience
  • Familiarity with the satellite and communications industry, technology, community and market is desirable
  • Overall Government Sales support experience of 7+ years, with 2+ years of proposal-related experience specifically related to writing and editing sections of complex proposals and white papers in response to RFIs, RFPs and RFQs.
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills – ability to analyze technical material and formulate/synthesize written material to clearly communicate technical and business concepts to leadership
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional team environment and retain a positive attitude while simultaneously handling multiple complex projects with demanding schedules
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Vision, Project, PPT) in support of large, complex capture and proposal efforts as well as to routinely create, edit and publish documents
