ACCOUNT MANAGER (STARSHIELD)
Starshield leverages SpaceX’s Starlink technology and launch capability to support national security efforts. While Starlink is designed for consumer and commercial use, Starshield is designed for government use, with an initial focus on earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads.
The Starshield account management team serves as the post-contract award point of contact for Starshield’s growing U.S. Government mission partners. This is an individual contributor role that will manage a variety of accounts including large, complex Starshield – U.S. Government portfolios. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who has a desire to enable the U.S. Government for mission success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the primary functional owner for a robust portfolio of assigned U.S. Government customers and own the interface from contract signature onwards (onboarding, ongoing account management, and long-term retention/growth of the relationship) with emphasis on:
- Delivering impeccable customer service, including efficient acknowledgment and resolution of issues. Building relationships to identify mission needs and manage expectations
- Collecting, communicating, and championing customer feedback internal to SpaceX in order to influence and steer programmatic and technical development required to maintain and grow enterprise business
- As the owner of assigned government accounts, identify and successfully communicate readiness levels, requirements, schedules, and risks to realize forecasted revenue on or ahead of schedule
- Serve as the team’s internal expert on the government accounts vertical, to include all internal tools and data sources
- Identify, design, and lead implementation of system enhancements and automation to improve the internal and external system interfaces
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or business; OR high school diploma/equivalency and 6+ years of business development, operations, engineering, or account management experience
- 3+ years of consulting or project management experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with the US Government (DoD, IC), supporting operations and/or technical products and services
- Significant knowledge or experience in Government contracts and satellite communications
- Significant technical knowledge of Starlink or telecommunications in at least one key area: satellites, ground network, user terminals, or related technology
- Experience managing multiple complex projects and delivering under tight deadlines and resource constraints
- Experience building long-term and successful customer relationships demonstrating empathy, active listening, and resiliency skills
- Ability to synthesize multiple unique requirements and suggest smart solutions, products, or features
- Track record of demonstrating sound business judgment, evaluating alternatives, and making recommendations that were adopted and ultimately successful
- Ability to negotiate successfully, especially after a contract is signed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to craft and present professional presentations at all levels
- Ability to manage execution of significant or complex contracts including initial intake, renegotiation of terms, and schedules
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Active Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance preferred. Must be willing to pursue a clearance if not already cleared. Note that an active clearance may provide the opportunity for you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions. If so, you will be subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing
- Must pass DoD level background checks for entry into various government facilities
- Must be available to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to support critical milestones or operations shifts
- Availability and willingness to travel as needed to customer sites and meetings
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Account Manager: $110,000.00 - $145,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
