Sr. Materials Engineer (Starship)
SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Materials Engineer to join our team at Starbase, focusing on high-performance metals and materials for our ambitious projects aimed at making humanity multiplanetary.
Skills
- Materials engineering expertise
- Problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of mechanical testing methods for metals
- Familiarity with failure analysis and characterization techniques
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
Responsibilities
- Own outcomes of critical materials to the program.
- Oversee the entire scope of a material from inception to flight.
- Develop physical, mechanical, and thermal properties for materials.
- Perform root cause investigations using fractography and metallography.
- Develop and implement reliability improvements in designs.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to solve material challenges.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in materials science or engineering
