This department is dedicated to ensuring the successful deployment, performance, and sustainability of smart meter systems, which are essential for efficient operations and enhanced customer service.THE POSITION: Expert IT Project ManagerPG&E is looking for an experienced Expert IT Project Manager to lead and manage large-scale projects within their Smart Meter Operations Center. The successful candidate will have substantial experience in enterprise data processing applications, interface deployment and testing, and managing system performance for large-scale projects. This role involves overseeing one very large-scale project or multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery, and leading a team to achieve project goals.RESPONSIBILITIES:• Manage one large-scale project ($50M, 100 FTEs, 3+ years) or multiple projects from inception to completion• Gather and define project requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals• Determine staffing needs and assemble project teams• Provide leadership to Project Managers (PMs) and Project Management Associates (PMAs)• Develop and maintain project plans, including metrics to assess progress and adherence to established standards• Monitor project milestones and deliverables, identify issues early, and develop workarounds.• Communicate and escalate issues to leadership and sponsors as needed• Provide constructive performance feedback to team members• Conduct regular reviews with project sponsors and formally confirm final acceptance and satisfactionTHE RIGHT CANDIDATE: QUALIFICATIONS/PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field• Minimum of 10 years of IT project management experience, with a focus on staffing and resource management• Proven experience managing large-scale projects involving 100+ FTEs over a duration of 30+ months• Demonstrated experience with 10+ projects of $10M in labor and managing 10+ PMAs and 5 PMs from planning to execution• Proficiency in PDM (Project Data Management) and PPMC (Project Portfolio Management Control) tools• Strong background in enterprise large-scale data processing application project management• Experience in deploying and testing interfaces• Knowledge of system performance for large-scale data processing systems• Planned disaster recovery experience• General knowledge of AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) and MDM (Meter Data Management).PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent• Familiarity with Planisware and other PG&E-specific PM tools (SAP, JE, ITM).Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate effectivelyDesired Skills:• Strong leadership and team management capabilities• Ability to perform project statistical and variance analysis• Proficiency in estimating, scope and risk management, and QA reviews• Commitment to client satisfaction and metrics analysis
