The Department of Labor & Industries (L&I), Administrative Services Division is looking for an Electrician (Maintenance Mechanic 4) to join our team.As the Electrician/Maintenance Mechanic 4, you will be primarily responsible for the electrical systems in L&I owned buildings and grounds within Thurston County. You will perform skilled installation, maintenance, and repair work on electrical equipment and systems of 600 volts or less. You will perform HVAC system maintenance, heating, cooling, commercial air-conditioning equipment, air handling units, and pneumatic/electronic/electrical systems. We embrace continuous improvement and seek ways to make our work processes more efficient.Some of what you will do:• Perform installation, alterations, and repair of electrical and all HVAC systems at an expert level including, but not limited to: air handlers, variable air volume units and controls, airflow dampers, V belts, sheaves, pulleys, and bearings, and setting up additional thermal comfort zones.• Work with electrical and mechanical companies in the development and implementation of electrical/mechanical projects.• Assist in the review of electrical plans for accuracy and code compliance and provide comments accordingly.• Connect, operate, and maintain a variety of equipment including, but not limited to, switchgear, panel boards, switch boxes, system wiring, motors, switches, lighting, and controllers.• Support high voltage system maintenance and assist in preparation of high voltage systems for work by contract.• Respond to emergency power outage situations or other building system emergencies and provide recommendations to return building to normal operations.• Coordinate with other trades professionals for related systems work on projects and maintenance activities.• Assist other Maintenance and Operations team members with maintenance and grounds tasks as required.• Conduct and maintain preventative maintenance program for all HVAC systems and equipment.• Perform diagnostics and adjustments to the building automation control system and application.• Repair walls, paint interior and exterior surfaces, sprinkler installation/inspection/repair, roof cleaning, and exterior pressure sashing.• And much more!Required:• High school diploma or GED equivalency.• Current EL-01 License OR Master electrician license.AND• Two (2) years of experience as a journey-level standing as an Electrician as attested by completion of a recognized apprentice.OR• Full journey level status in an Electrical Workers Union as an electrician.AND:• Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license, free from serious traffic violations.• Ability to read blueprints, plans and sketches to perform work and generate estimates for labor and materials required to accomplish work.• Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in assorted trades.• Willing and able to stand for four or more hours at a time.• Ability to read, interpret, and retain information from plans, specifications and written materials.Desired:• Four (4) years of applicable experience and extensive knowledge with HVAC equipment service, diagnostic, repair and maintenance.• Willingness to lend other team members a hand as needed - these tasks could include minor carpentry, HVAC maintenance or painting.• Understand and follow applicable laws, regulations, and other standards to establish and/or maintain a safe workplace.• Able to organize multiple assignments to produce work products that are accurate, complete, and on time.• Willing and able to work independently with little or no on-site supervisory direction.• Knowledge of current energy codes and work safety requirements• Current EPA universal refrigerant handling certificationOR• Current backflow testing certificationOR• AD01 certification• Extensive knowledge on Building automation / controls DDC programsThings You Need To KnowState employees who meet the qualifications will become eligible for a generous retirement package at the end of the employee’s career.
