Resources include historical print and digital compilations, collections of state newspapers and maps, state and federal government publications, and the Ask-a-Librarian service.Library Associate - Library & Archives Paraprofessional 2Permanent, Full-TimeUnder the supervision of the Institutional Librarian, this position is responsible for the delivery of library and information services to the incarcerated individuals of the Clallam Bay Corrections Center.Please note: Interviews for this position will be conducted on an ongoing basis. The hiring manager reserves the right to fill the position at any time.Delivers services at an institutional branch libraryTasks include:Assists supervisor with the selection of library materials and with periodic weedingSelects appropriate MARC records for new materialsProcesses incoming materials per established proceduresPerforms circulation functions, including creating and updating patron and item records, and managing holdsAssists with hiring, training, and coordinating the daily work of incarcerated library clerksProcesses ILL lending and borrowing requests.Orders and maintains library and office suppliesCompiles periodic statistical and narrative reportsPerforms bibliographic and information searches and answers reference questionsTasks include:Searches for, evaluates, and selects material to fill general information requestsAssists supervisor with provision of reentry informationParticipates in branch library program and assists other branchesTasks include:Provides technical support or subject expertise to accomplish program goalsWorks with colleagues on projects for other branchesHelps develop policies and procedures for area of responsibility.Attends office sponsored training activities and eventsRequired Qualifications:Within the past 10 years, one year of experience in a library providing adult/young adult public service.Ability to read and write English language.Ability to efficiently use a personal computer and applicable software to successfully perform the essential job functions of the position.Preferred/Desired Qualifications:Experience with OCLC WorldShare interlibrary loan.Experience providing adult/young adult reference and reader’s advisory services.WORKING CONDITIONSThe position entails extended periods of sitting and standing, predominantly in a library or office setting where frequent interaction with the public is expected. The role demands flexibility, as it involves working under adverse conditions and adhering to standard business hours from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, with the possibility of evening and weekend assignments. Some travel is required, with occasional overnight stays within Washington State. Duties necessitate variation in working hours during travel.
