We are on the lookout for a Technical Lead, Propulsion Programs
to join our team.
Responsibilities:
The Technical Lead, Propulsion Programs focuses on driving key engineering deliverables across several subsystem programs to ensure meeting vehicle-level deliverables across BEV
and FCEV vehicle platforms. Essential duties include:

Responsible for project execution, contract compliance, customer satisfaction and financial return for one or more EVCI business projects.

Plan execution of Nikola's Powertrain project and product evolution activities with cross-functional teams, suppliers, manufacturing, testing, and validation teams on the complete life cycle of the project through product launch, and implementation of lessons learned on subsequent products (cradle-to-cradle responsibility)

Apply fundamental advanced planning for the execution of design maturity from initial concept to product launch, to next concept.

Coordinate with Powertrain engineering to define appropriate engineering targets for the Powertrain sub-systems to meet function, quality and attribute requirements of the Vehicle Program.

Ensure the Powertrain Systems meet program targets.

Resolution of engineering technical hurdles through deep collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Coordinate with the powertrain systems engineering team and the powertrain testing & validation team to develop and maintain the Design Validation Plan and Report (DVP&R) including both in-house and supplier testing plans and ensure sign-off tests are completed on schedule.

Provide technical expertise and coordination on powertrain requirements definition, design implementation and system validation and develop engineering processes and procedures as needed to create consistency across engineering teams and deliverables.

Guide powertrain systems project engineering activities and provide technical coordination between subsystems to ensure vehicle program key engineering sign-off and deliverables are met.

Support the Purchasing team in sourcing and RFQ activities.

Support powertrain applications analysis process and customer interface deliverables to ensure appropriate feedback is provided.

Mentor junior engineers and interns.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or higher in Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering or closely related degree, and 24 months of work experience in heavy duty new product development engineering roles.

Minimum experience must include:

Experience working with or collaborating on DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and testing and validation (DVP&R) with supplier quality teams.

Working with APQP processes; transitioning technologies from prototype to production launch including pre-planning, supporting design, developing, validating, and continuous improvement.

Supporting design maturity from initial concept to product launch, to next concept.

Interfacing with or leading the Purchasing/Sourcing process, cost savings, and supplier management and development.

Some limited domestic and international travel to suppliers required (up to 15% total).
