Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world’s largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for an Electrical Engineering Intern. Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities:

•    Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

•    Update as-built documentation of existing infrastructure; work will include field investigation and verification of installed equipment and updating existing drawings, manuals, parts lists and other documentation to reflect those conditions. Software used for this will be standard Microsoft Office, Adobe and other Windows software. CAD software may include AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical Desktop or SolidWorks

•    Support project scoping and execution tasks. Work will include determining operating requirements, observing field personnel, performing time/motion studies, performing material take-offs, and performing additional field measurements as required

•    Perform design tasks as needed to support maintenance work orders and small plant upgrades; including drafting, sourcing parts/components required, performing suitable design calculations, research and understand code requirements

•    Support maintenance planning as needed, including determining repair specifications, sourcing specialty parts, support troubleshooting activities, specify installation requirements

•    Depending on the qualifications and interest of the incumbent, the incumbent will be expected to execute a small design project in support of his/her undergraduate thesis

•    This work will require taking an idea or concept, as given by a senior engineer at Red Dog, and, under his/her tutelage, execute the project to the point of implementation

Qualifications:

•    Education required: one (1) to three (3) years of university education in an accredited engineering school, as well as a High School diploma or equivalent

•    Preferred qualifications: experience in Mining or other heavy industrial environment, experience with condition monitoring equipment, experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software, experience in design

•    Good written and verbal communications are important for this position
