Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Grade Control Intern. Due to anticipated needs, we are currently recruiting for a career oriented individual to fill this role

Reporting to the Senior Geologist - Mine


Responsibilities:
  • Complete assigned work in a professional manner including necessary measurements, estimates, calculations, analysis, interpretation, reporting and recommendations.  This may include but not be limited to: data entry, collection of geological data, ore waste separation, stockpile planning and report generation
  • Liaise with other engineers and geologists as required to get assistance in the completion of assigned tasks
  • Communicate effectively with operating and technical groups to ensure optimum utilization of resources
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Geology or related Engineering discipline  
  • Experience in an open pit mine (operationally or in a grade control capacity) would be considered a significant asset.  Working exposure to industrial environments would also be an asset  
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Windows environment with advanced abilities in MS Excel  
  • Experience with Leapfrog, Minesight or another mine planning software suite would be considered an asset  
  • Strong interpersonal communication, written and verbal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
