Leadership forms the basis of a safe and healthy workplace and involves both making a dedication to put health and safety into action and proactively leading it. The Mill Shift Supervisor will lead by example in ensuring that safe and healthy working conditions are maintained, that machinery and equipment are in good working order, that workers follow safe work practices, and that workers receive adequate training in their specific work tasks to protect their health and safety.

Reporting to the Mill Operations General Supervisor


Responsibilities:
  • Protect the safety and health of employees by implementing safe working procedures and health programs in accordance with Company policy and appropriate regulations
  • Ensure the continuous and efficient operation of the Mill facilities by assigning and supervising the operating crew
  • Meet quality control and operating standards by; monitoring and troubleshooting the process, scrutinizing operator reports and by initiating and supervising corrective actions
  • Develop operating crews by participating in their selection, training, and evaluating their performance
  • Ensure the Mill operation follows all environmental regulations
  • Effectively lead the crews by following, enforcing and administering company policies in a fair and equitable manner
  • Optimally respond to crew concerns where possible and communicate issues that are outside your area of control
  • Relief for the Mill Operations General Supervisor in their absence
  • Perform other duties as required


Qualifications:
  • 5-10 Years of experience in milling or related field
  • A solid understanding of MSHA standards
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, self-motivated with a willingness to train others
  • Highly motivated colleague and have a positive attitude
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, excel, word processing and presentation applications
  • Problem solving skills and decision making abilities
  • Proven and exemplary leadership skills
