We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist (Hydrology) to join our growing team. As a member of our research and development team, you will lead hydrological research and modeling efforts to quantify benefits of enhanced rock weathering. Your expertise will be crucial in developing and implementing field and modeling strategies to support our mission of mitigating climate change. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a passion for scientific problem solving, and the ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
Location: Flexible (San Francisco or São Paulo)
Responsibilities:
Lead and conduct hydrologic field studies in Brazil, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Develop and apply hydrologic modeling tools to simulate water systems
Lead efforts to quantify and characterize hydrological processes across spatial scales, from the movement of water in unsaturated soil to the watershed and regional scale.
Analyze large datasets and leverage statistical techniques to draw meaningful conclusions.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (e.g., geochemists, engineers, data scientists, environmental scientists) to integrate hydrological insights into broader projects.
Contribute to the development of innovative technologies and solutions monitor and quantify the net climate impact of enhanced rock weathering. Present research findings at scientific conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Project management and team supervision
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience (5+ years) in conducting hydrological field research and applying modeling techniques.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in using and learning software and tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel to field sites in Brazil.
Portuguese language skills (bonus, not required).
Experience managing complex projects
