What you’ll do 

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced HR Manager with a strong focus on employee relations to join our team. In this role, you will play a key role in fostering a positive work environment, addressing employee concerns, and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws. The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of HR best practices and a proactive, employee-led approach to resolving workplace challenges. 


Responsibilities

Leadership
  • Manage a team of HR Coordinators and Generalists responsible for supporting our fulfillment center teams.
  • Coach leadership across the organization on best practices to resolve employee conflicts and workplace challenges.
  • Support the Talent Partner team in employee relations issues across all teams.
  • Develop team members to grow in their roles and responsibilities.
Employee Relations
  • Serve as one of the primary points of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance and support to employees and managers.
  • Investigate and resolve workplace conflicts, complaints, and grievances in a fair and timely manner.
  • Mediate disputes and facilitate solutions that align with company values and policies. 
Policy and Compliance
  • Ensure company policies and procedures comply with applicable federal, state, and local labor laws.
  • Contribute to HR policies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and legal standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive employee information with integrity.
Performance Management
  • Advise managers on best practices for performance improvement plans, coaching, and feedback.
  • Support the organization in addressing underperformance and recognizing achievements.
Training and Development
  • Provide training and resources to managers on handling employee relations, conflict resolution, and effective communication.
  • Assist in fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Employee Engagement and Culture
  • Lead and support initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Act as a champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion in all HR processes.


You may be a good fit if you:
  • Have 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong emphasis on employee relations within a diverse workforce.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Possess excellent communication, mediation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Have the ability to maintain discretion and handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Are able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Are passionate about driving employee performance to support company goals and supporting a strong company culture.
  • Are kind, collaborative, and brings a great attitude—because we’re all about working with people who get things done and keep it real.
  • Have experience with HRIS systems (Paylocity), collaboration tools (Slack, G-Suite) and Google Workspace or Microsoft tools.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with diverse teams and foster an inclusive environment.


You may also have:
  • HR Certifications: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience supporting distributed or remote teams


$110,000 - $130,000 a year
The base salary range for this position will be $110,000-$130,000. Compensation may vary based on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and location. The Black Tux defines compensation plans using market data aligned with comparable companies at a similar stage and size as ours.

How we work
At The Black Tux, we have 3 different ways we work to support the multi-faceted needs of our team. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the work-type and location where you currently or plan to live. 

A remote location is defined as residing within the continental US. The expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than in a showroom or warehouse. To accommodate all time zones, we have established core business hours, 10am - 2pm, for meetings and team cross-collaboration. The Black Tux does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. For team members in the Los Angeles area or traveling to LA for work, we have a small WeWork that can be accessed for in person collaboration.
