We’re looking for a driven, detail-oriented, highly curious Product Manager who's excited to own and run product at a small, ambitious startup figuring out product-market fit.
What You’ll Do
As Product Lead, the core of your role is ensuring the team has what they need to execute on the product vision in a timely and effective way. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to define feature work, drive accountability, and lead decision-making. You’ll structure learnings and results, working closely with the CEO and leadership to inform the roadmap and strategy to meet our user needs and business goals.
Understand and articulate user needs. Have deep knowledge of who our users are and are always advocating to best meet their needs. Summarize and distill key themes from user feedback to inform new spec development. Stay current on competitive research to inform the latest product thinking.
Define and communicate. Ensure that everyone on the team understands the what, why and how of new features. Define problem, context, user goals, success metrics, and discovery work required for prioritized specs.
Drive accountability. Project manage specs from inception to experimentation. Guide design, data, engineering, and marketing teammates to execute on features, ensuring they have the information they need to move work forward effectively. Ultimately, you’re responsible for launching projects on time at high quality.
Unblock with clear decision making. You’re the unblocker, thinking one step ahead, knowing the details of projects from inception to experimentation. You guide scoping and tradeoff discussions to define MVP and key requirements. You provide timely input to teammates, driving effective decision-making. The team looks to you to provide a clear understanding of the path forward and why.
Measure and evaluate success. You work closely with data to structure experiments and analyze results to learn and measure progress. You use the results of past projects to inform future development and roadmap prioritization.
Work with the CEO and leadership to shape product strategy and roadmap. Collaborate closely with the CEO and Commons leadership to shape our product strategy and prioritize the roadmap to meet our business goals. You engage with relevant research, competitive analysis, and thought leaders to inform product opportunities. Support vision and strategy discussions with the Board.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, an excellent communicator, and deeply curious. You’re passionate about scaling solutions that empower people to address the climate crisis. A track record building engaging consumer digital experiences is a plus, but not a requirement.
Deeply curious and self-motivated. You’re deeply curious about our user wants and needs. You’re proactive and action-oriented, always looking for the best solution to a problem and the most efficient path forward, regardless of who suggested it. You value honest feedback and professional growth.
Detail-oriented. You’re obsessive over the details of the end-to-end customer experience. You think one step ahead – anticipating the implications of decisions. Your specs are specific and detailed, exploring the ins and outs of edge cases – not just the happy path.
Highly organized. You’re the person to call to keep the trains running on time. You have strong project management skills and think in a structured way. Even your slack updates are clear and organized. You always send pre-reads for meetings, and always follow up on next steps.
Clear, collaborative communicator. You’re always willing to hop on a call or slack huddle to hash out a tricky problem with an engineer. You thrive in environments with open and honest communication. You enjoy collaborating closely with design, data, and engineering and understand how to create processes that elevate ideas and efforts across the team.
Thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments. Speed of execution is important to you. You’d rather test and iterate on a clear hypothesis than put a lot of resources into a perfectly crafted solution. You’re happiest working on scrappy teams with limited resources, and are excited to learn quickly.
Think you might have what it takes, but not sure you meet every requirement? Research shows that women and marginalized folks tend to only apply when they check every box. If you're passionate about what we're building, please apply. You might be just who we’re looking for.
