Instructional Assistant with RBT (Registered Behavior Technician)

Job Description


As a Crisis/Behavior Instructional Assistant w/RBT with The Menta Group, you will be responsible for working with classroom instructors and staff to offer targeted teaching and support to students in the classroom, as well as general support for all students in the school.




Responsibilities
  • Manage classroom and/or Refocus Room behaviors
  • Report behavioral concerns of students to appropriate staff
  • Implement and maintain behavioral program policies and data
  • Maintain classroom order and safety (Security)
  • Provide general supervision of students inside the school setting
  • Assist in the prevention and management of incidents of non-compliance and/or escalation in behavior
  • Maintain alertness for problems likely to disrupt the educational process or to be a safety concern and correct and report these conditions Respond to emergency situations
  • Provide interventions to students to assist in managing behaviors
  • Think quickly, independently, and tactfully


Qualifications
  • Registered Behavior Technician Certification
  • Substitute Teacher Certification or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Security or Juvenile Justice background is helpful
  • Military Veterans are encouraged to apply
  • Ability to operate tactfully under stress
  • Flexibility to change in routines
  • At least 23 years of age
  • Able to work with high-risk special needs students
  • Good driving record and willing and able to drive student van is strongly preferred

About Harbourview Academy Phoenix


HarbourView Academy is a special education school in Phoenix that not only provides a rigorous education but also a temporary short-term placement called Alternative to Suspension (ATS) for students who would otherwise be suspended from their home schools.


The safe environment and special education curriculum in our Phoenix school reduces the number of out-of-school suspensions and provides support to help students reintegrate into their home schools successfully.


At our school in Phoenix, we cater to the academic and social-emotional needs of high-risk children and adolescents aged 5 through 22. Our no-refusal, no-suspension, no-expulsion policy offers a continuum of services to meet the needs of this challenging student population. We believe every child can learn and our goal is to ensure students master the necessary academic and social skills for an independent and productive life. Our well-structured, engaging, safe, and instructional Optimal Learning Environment and special education program in Phoenix is responsive to student needs.
