We boldly challenge what’s possible for a sustainable world.This role has been designated by the Company as Safety Sensitive.Job Summary:We are currently looking for a Lean Technician within our Supply Operational Excellence organization, focused on Distribution. We have openings on both 1st Shift (6a-2:30p) or 2nd Shift (2:30-11:00p) onsite in St. Peters, MO.Under the direction of the site Value Stream Coach, this position is responsible for supporting daily management excellence and lean transformation initiatives by ensuring the execution of lean principles/practices/tools. This position will work with operational excellence and distribution teams to bring about improvements within safety, customer value, quality, delivery, cycle time, growth, margin expansion, and inventory.Responsibilities:Support the implementation and sustainment of Trane Lean Business Operating System• Help establish, update and maintain visual performance tools, including Mission Control, Andons and MDI• Maintain and improve the physical/visual elements of MDI and Mission Control• Create and audit standard work, coach the standard work process• Review group of standard work for completeness and availability• Perform LSW audits and work with leaders to improve LSW application• Lead or participate on improvement projectsCollect and monitor data surrounding improvement activities• Gather data in preparation for improvement events (time studies, logs, pareto/trends)• Collect, monitor and audit data for problem solving• Use data analysis to define current stateTrain, coach and support hourly operators, team leaders and other employees on Lean Tools• Support/conduct 9-Step and Intro to Lean courses• Support/conduct new hires and onboarding process• Lead execution and coaching of 5S activities• Participate in, co-facilitate or facilitate projects, RIEs and “just do-it’s.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Ability to create standard work documents, operational procedures and visual work aids• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from associates, supervisors and managers at the site level• Must be viewed credibly as either an informal leader or a positive influencer of change• Must be a self-motivated learner• Must possess a strong work ethic• Ability to mentor team members and facilitate change from a position of Influencer• Ability to energize and motivate teams• Ability to recognize conflict and take appropriate action within scope of the roleOther Requirements:• Must be prepared for flexible work hours including alternative or rotating shift schedules• Knowledge of basic Lean Manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement based tools and techniques preferred (or willingness to learn)• Capability with personal computer applications ( Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio or ability to learn)We offer competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits and programs that help our employees thrive in both their professional and personal lives.
