Creative Director

Unwell is on the hunt for a visionary and entrepreneurial Creative Director with a proven, award-winning background to lead the creative direction of our fast-growing brand. We are looking for a dynamic leader eager to take our innovative IP to new heights and push the boundaries of what's possible in brand development and storytelling.

As the Creative Director at Unwell, you will be responsible for steering all creative efforts across a variety of media and platforms, ensuring our brand remains cutting-edge and consistently ahead of industry trends. Reporting directly to the Head of Brand Marketing, you will work closely with our core team to conceptualize and execute creative strategies that resonate with our audience and elevate the Unwell brand. This role is hands-on; you will be designing and writing the work yourself, along with a small internal and external resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creative Leadership: Lead the creative vision for Unwell, overseeing all aspects of brand identity, including visual identity (Vis ID), logos, key art, and overall branding strategies. Ensure that all creative outputs, both internal and external, align with the high standards and unique vision of the Unwell brand.

  • Design Execution: Personally design and execute key creative deliverables, including logos, visual identities, and social media content. You'll often work independently or with limited resources to bring these projects to life, ensuring Unwell's creative vision is consistently reflected.

  • Collaborative Strategy & Assets: Partner with the Head of Marketing and cross-functional teams to develop and execute creative concepts for live events, social campaigns, partnership materials, consumer products, and content franchises (podcasts, short-form content, long-form content).

  • IP Brand Development: Spearhead the creation and launch of innovative brands for Unwell & IP, including brand development, logo design, visual identity, photoshoots, social identity, and live event concepts. Ensure that all creative work meets brand standards and effectively communicates IP’s mission and values.

  • Event Design & Execution: Conceptualize and oversee the creative direction of live events, ensuring all related assets align with the event's look and feel while adhering to Unwell’s brand guidelines. This includes set design, marketing collateral, and any other visual or interactive elements.

  • Content & Social Media: Direct and review the creative work for all social media campaigns, ensuring that the content is engaging, on-brand, and consistent across all platforms. Collaborate with marketing and content teams to ensure creative supports business goals and objectives.

  • Brand Consistency: Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across all touchpoints. Oversee the production of all creative content, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality and originality.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 8+ years of experience in creative roles, with a significant portion of that time spent in a leadership capacity. Agency experience is required, with additional in-house brand experience considered a plus.

  • Creative Vision: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a cohesive creative vision across a wide range of media. Must have a portfolio that showcases innovative and award-winning work across various formats, including branding, digital, social, and live events.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design tools. A strong understanding of the latest trends in design, social media, and content creation.

  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic skills with the ability to think big-picture while also managing the details. Must be able to translate business objectives into compelling creative strategies that drive results.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven experience working collaboratively with marketing, product, and content teams to align creative efforts with overall business goals. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and mentor creative teams. Must be able to provide clear direction, constructive feedback, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
