Background:
This job is part of the first phase of a non-profit, US service based organization that provides support to those that have been affected by addiction in their families. We are looking for a kind hearted person to be a part of the organization’s first efforts.
Scope
We’d like the worker (you) to be available for 4-6 hours a week, an hour a day, for a few months to 6 months. We do not know the demand at this point.
Job requirements and skills needed
Understand spoken English and speak English clearly (You will be on the phone)
Read a several page document, understand it, have a conversation about it (you will need to know much of what’s in it before taking calls from potential clients)
Able to refer to document (for ideas to relay to the client) while on a call with clients
Be available during some US Pacific Time hours, one weekend day (let us know those hours)
Listening - (what I hear you saying) without offering corrections on non-factual things
An easily... understandable English accent and voice for US citizens
Is willing and able to be supportive, non-judgemental and accepting
Is familiar with non-judgmental accountability partnering (neither positive or negative, just hearing the callers’ intents and recording them)
Able to see and describe different versions of a story (for example, if someone says they’re a failure, different versions could be: haven’t found the right job or partner yet, a relationship was going in a direction that didn’t align with them, failing is a necessary part of finding and maybe they haven’t failed enough to find what works best, they’ve had a limited view on what was possible for them, they’ve grown and changed and looking at it like it was failure is a false judgement - learning is not failing, not everyone meets everyone else’s standards, so everyone is a failure to someone)
The Upwork support provider will do the following:
1. Take and (rarely) make phone calls (Skype could be fine)
2. Be a kind, non-judgmental listener to whatever is going on with the person
4. Be a non-judgemental accountability partner (specifically, hearing the specific actions the person will take, by when they will take them, say it back to them in summary, ask if that’s correct, if you are corrected, you restate it again until they say its correct, and track it in some easy to use way - you may need to encourage specificity)
5. Ask the caller to seek within for their own ideas for personal problem solving (OK to give possible ideas after they do their own seeking and if asked), encourage them to be their own guru.
6. Offer and provide some job ideas / side hustle ideas / resources as provided in the document.
7. Provide some minor assistance with technology as requested (OK to google it)
8. In summary, during the calls, you will be a good listener, offer the caller accountability, some job and career ideas/discussion/, some tech guidance or support .
9. Finally, provide feedback to us as to what other services might be needed (resume writing, etcShow full descriptionCollapse
