Position Purpose: 

The IT Project Manager’s role is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.  In addition, the project manager will gather and analyze data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements.  He/she will be responsible for ensuring quality enhancements to problem resolutions and database integrity.  This individual will also provide technical support to both internal and external customers as needed. 

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Leverage Agile scrum methodology and framework to drive project delivery with proper utilization of artifacts and ceremonies.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents with clear tasks and milestones.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Participate in the development of best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Analyze current business processes and system functions with the objective of providing users with application tools to increase productivity and promote business objectives.
  • Challenge business requests to ensure relevance to business objectives & priorities.
  • Coordinate, perform and document in-depth tests, including end-user reviews for modified and new systems.
  • Determine the impact on the customer for systems and process changes.
  • Work with the OCM team to drive stakeholders’ adoption, engagement and coordinate and deliver appropriate specific training for applications, both new and existing.
  • Work with Service Desk to drive service transition
  • Coordinate user authority assignments with local user authority managers.
  • Produce ad hoc reports for analysis of system usage, regulatory compliance, business management etc.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in MIS, Engineering or Business.
  • 2-3 years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution required.
  • Agile Scrum is a methodology we use regularly for project delivery, and we expect the person in this role to have demonstrated experience with it.
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong familiarity with project management software.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
  • Ability to address conflict. defuse tension among project teams, should it arise.
  • Ability to bring projects to successful completion through political sensitivity.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and/or conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working with vendors and offshore partners is a plus.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • PMP or/and CSM (Agile scrum) preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Limited travel expected (less than 5%).
  • Remote policy - minimum 3 days a week at our downtown Milwaukee office.
