About the Role
Reporting to the VP of Treasury, the Manager, Accounts Payable will play a pivotal role in driving the implementation of a new AP automation system, aimed at streamlining processes and enhancing global operations. The primary focus of this role will be overseeing the automation project, addressing current pain points in the AP process, and ensuring a smooth onboarding, troubleshooting, and overall system success.
You will be responsible for the integration of the new system, which will centralize invoices, improve approval chains, and optimize routing processes. As the system evolves, you'll lead efforts to enhance efficiency and drive process improvements on a global scale, collaborating with key stakeholders across the organization.
This role will oversee the complete accounts payable process, including transaction processing, payment scheduling, vendor management, and the month-end financial close. This is an exciting opportunity to lead automation initiatives, streamline invoice processing and payments, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth and successful implementation.
Drive Automation Projects:
Lead and manage projects and initiatives for the Accounts Payable function directed towards process improvements.
Perform testing and implement existing AP automation initiatives, working with vendors and external parties to remediate any issues
Update documentation around policies and procedures and ensure appropriate controls are in place
Provide communication and training to both Finance team and non-financial stakeholders on key processes such as expense reporting, corporate credit cards, and AP automation workflows.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the new system effectively supports global AP functions as countries are gradually phased into the system.
Operational Management & Team Leadership
Oversee the daily operations of the Accounts Payable team, including managing and reviewing workflows, invoice and payment processing, vendor management and handling internal and external requests and inquiries
Coach a high-performance team by providing training and development opportunities, setting expectations & evaluating performance
Manage month-end AP close processes, including the review of account analyses, reconciliations and monthly accruals
Generate reporting to effectively monitor outstanding invoices and oversee weekly payables disbursements
Develop, implement and maintains systems, procedures and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines & internal controls
Oversee the Company’s credit card and employee expense reimbursement programs
Support annual tax reporting (e.g. T4A, 1099, NR4 issuance)
Assist with internal and external audit
Ad-hoc requests as needed
Expertise in managing Accounts Payable operations in a fast-paced, multi-entity, multi-currency environment, with strong leadership and results-driven focus.
Proven track record in implementing AP automation, streamlining processes, and improving internal controls.
Experience in driving efficiencies and optimizing workflows, particularly in global, multi-entity settings.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage early close requirements in dynamic AP environments.
Post-secondary degree or certificate in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills, with a focus on process improvement and large-scale automation.
Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders.
Familiarity with systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, Concur, or Octacom (preferred, not required).
Public company experience and knowledge of internal controls during process improvements and automation is a plus.
Experience in or interest in the entertainment industry is an asset.
