Altas Software Intern

WindBorne Systems is supercharging weather models with a unique proprietary data source: constellations of next-generation smart weather balloons targeting the most critical atmospheric data. We then combine that unique data source with the world’s most accurate AI weather models. Our long-term vision is to eliminate weather uncertainty, and in the process help humanity adapt to climate change, be that predicting hurricanes or speeding the adoption of renewables. The founding team of Stanford engineers was named Forbes 2019 30 under 30 and is backed by top investors including Khosla Ventures.


WindBorne is hiring Software Engineering interns to help build our in situ global nervous system, Atlas: From data driven automations in Palo Alto, to launch infrastructure in Korea, to the flight software that flies across the globe, back down the constellation management suite running on our phones, there is so much to build, and hopefully you can help!

Responsibilities: Highly variable depending on background skills and interests. You will be given the responsibility, respect, and trust that full time engineers get, and if you are good, there will be high potential to convert to full time.

Skills and Qualifications: Besides general software skills, the only things required are high agency, willingness to work extremely hard, and ability to learn very quickly. In the era of LLM’s, an individual with those attributes can accomplish almost anything. However, we are specifically interested in the following skills.

  • Ruby on Rails apps

  • Web Dev/Design

  • Linux & Python Infrastructure

  • Data Science/Machine Learning

  • C++ Firmware/ Flight Software

  • Scaling production systems

Pay rate

$30-$40/hr**
