Supply Chain Manager (Gaza & Middle East)

World Central Kitchen (WCK) is seeking a Supply Chain Unit Manager who oversees both the Procurement and Logistics departments, providing strategic leadership to ensure the seamless coordination of procurement and logistics operations for the WCK response in the region, including Gaza, Lebanon, Israel, and Jordan. This role is responsible for aligning procurement and logistics strategies with operational goals, fostering cross-departmental collaboration, and ensuring the timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement and acquisition of resources.

This position is based in Amman, Jordan. The Supply Chain Unit Manager is a key member of the senior leadership team on the Gaza activation, reporting directly to the Gaza Response Director.

The Supply Chain Manager is a contract term position with the opportunity for renewal.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Coordination

  • Collaborate with Gaza-based and Jordanian-based leadership teams to forecast and anticipate needs inside Gaza and develop supply chain strategies that fulfill their needs.
  • Provide overarching strategic guidance to both Procurement and Logistics departments.
  • Establish and maintain communication channels between the Procurement and Logistics teams to promote operational synergy.
  • Coach the Procurement and Logistics teams to develop solutions that mitigate disruptions in supply chain operations.

Procurement Oversight

  • Supervise the Procurement team to ensure the sourcing of high-quality goods at fair market prices with appropriate expiration dates at fast speeds.
  • Ensure the procurement team is coordinating with Gaza and Jordan culinary and maintenance teams to forecast and anticipate purchasing needs.
  • Oversee the procurement process from preparation of RFQ to completing and approve significant procurement decisions.
  • Monitor the integrity of procurement processes, ensuring transparency and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Coach the procurement team on developing various procurement strategies to adapt to changing supply chain conditions, such as disrupted supply channels or vendor shortages.

Logistics Oversight

  • Direct the Logistics team to ensure the efficient movement of humanitarian aid and supplies across international and local borders.
  • Oversee the Logistics team’s coordination with planning and execution of logistics operations, including warehousing, inventory management, and transportation services.
  • Coach the logistics team on developing various strategies to adapt to changing supply chain conditions, such as disrupted supply channels or vendor shortages.
  • Oversee the logistics vendor procurement process from preparation of RFQ to completing and approve significant procurement decisions.
  • Share service agreements and contracts with shipping, trucking, and warehousing providers with Response Director and Chief Relief Officer for their approval.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build and adjust appropriate teams for the Supply Chain department, ensuring adequate support for ambiguous and changing needs.
  • Lead and mentor the Procurement and Logistics managers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with department managers to assess progress and address challenges.

Financial Oversight & Reporting

  • Review and approve budgets, invoices, and financial reports for both Procurement and Moo Logistics departments.
  • Monitor expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness.

Emergency Response & Crisis Management

  • Act as the senior supply chain point of contact during emergencies, coordinating rapid responses to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Liaise with security teams to ensure the safe movement of goods and personnel in volatile areas.

  • Ability to work in the Amman, Jordan, office six (6) days per week and/or working remotely one (1) day per week. 
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or in a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, including leadership roles.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage cross-functional teams in high-pressure environments.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.
  • Familiarity with regional supply chain regulations and cross-border logistics challenges in the Middle East.
  • Commitment to WCK’s North Star and values.
  • Fluency in English is required; Arabic is also required with a strong preference for someone fluent in Levantine Arabic.
