ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.



This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.



POSITION SUMMARY:


World Relief Spokane (WRS) is looking for a Housing Support Specialist who will assist newcomers on their journey to housing stability in their new community through collaboration with other service providers and departments and through direct service provision and coaching.




ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Meet with walk-ins who present with housing crises of various types to conduct intake and determine eligibility for programs. 
  • Track new arrivals through exit of resettlement programs and housing stabilizations and reach out to households prior to the date when their responsibility to pay rent begins to review the budgets and plans.
  • Complete gap service enrollments with clients and enter all of the required documentation into their digital case files and update those records regularly.
  • Provide participants with information on the program, what it can and cannot do, and available resources. 
  • Assist client with applications for external sources of rental or utility assistance. 
  • Apply means test for the internal (PC) rental assistance program in accordance with the policy and request rental assistance checks.
  • Distribute rental assistance checks and document according to the established procedures. 
  • Empower clients through hands-on practice in rent payments, budgeting and landlord interaction. This may involved taking clients to show how to make payments through banks or money orders.
  • Empower clients with information on their rights and responsibilities as renters in America. This may be done through one-on-one coaching or in the context of a classroom presentation.
  • Attend regular meetings and check-ins with the housing team and other World Relief teams as needed
  • Other relevant duties as assigned. 


JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Able to pass an MVR check and provide transportation to clients 
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to ask questions 
  • Comfortable working on a computer and experience with basic Microsoft office suite
  • Ability to work independently, a self-starter who is strong on follow-through
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) .

$19 - $21 an hour
