Director, Direct I/O (Entertainment)

The Role


We are looking for a Director, Direct IO to lead a team in developing and executing innovative media strategies focused on digital direct IO buying, while also collaborating with Programmatic counterparts on integrated display and video approaches. This person will be a key leader and strategic advisor for relevant media (Digital Direct, and potentially traditional media as needed), responsible for overseeing planning, activation, measurement, and team development, bringing a strong, results-oriented focus and driving impactful outcomes.


To be successful in this role, this person needs to have deep expertise in digital direct IO buying and a strong understanding of broader media planning, buying, and reporting across relevant programs. They must possess the vision and drive to develop cutting-edge strategies, the analytical skills to measure performance effectively, and the leadership capabilities to inspire and mentor a team. The anticipated annual salary for this role will range from $108,000 - $125,000, based on consideration of a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, education and certifications, competitive benchmarks, scope of responsibility, market dynamics, geographic location, and respective state’s salary threshold for exempt employees. The total compensation package for this role will include benefits (listed above) and an annual performance bonus.


This role has an associated annual target bonus component which is paid out based on a number of factors which include Company performance, department performance, and individual performance. Bonuses are not guaranteed and you must be an active employee in good standing and not on a Performance Improvement Plan to be eligible for the annual bonus.


*This role is a hybrid in-office position (You will need to commute into the client's office Los Angeles 1x a week)

You Will Be
  • Developing and implementing innovative digital direct IO strategies aligned with client business objectives and KPIs, pushing the boundaries of what's possible
  • Leading the team in the execution of complex, multi-faceted digital direct IO campaigns, from initial planning to final reporting and analysis
  • Providing strategic guidance on digital direct IO best practices, including partner selection, negotiation tactics, and measurement methodologies
  • Collaborating with integrated media strategy leads to ensure digital direct IO programs complement and enhance broader media efforts
  • Overseeing the RFP process for traditional media (if applicable) and leading complex IO negotiations for digital direct, securing optimal placements and pricing
  • Driving operational efficiencies within the team across planning, activation, reporting, and ad ops, with a focus on streamlining digital direct IO processes and leveraging technology
  • Developing and implementing advanced measurement frameworks to accurately assess the performance of digital direct IO campaigns and demonstrate ROI
  • Identifying opportunities to expand partnerships and explore emerging digital direct technologies and platforms to drive innovation and client value
  • Mentoring and developing team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key publishers and technology partners in the digital direct space
  • Presenting strategic recommendations and performance reports to clients, clearly articulating the value and impact of digital direct IO campaigns
  • Staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies in the digital direct landscape, sharing knowledge and insights with the team and clients


You Must Have
  • 7+ years of directly related experience, with a significant focus on digital direct IO buying, and 3+ years of people management experience. Full-funnel marketing experience preferred.
  • Deep expertise in the digital media landscape, with a proven track record of developing and executing successful digital direct IO strategies. A strong understanding of the broader digital media ecosystem, including programmatic, is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and experience in developing and implementing measurement frameworks for digital direct IO campaigns. Ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Proven ability to negotiate complex IO deals and build strong relationships with publishers and technology partners.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to  clearly articulate complex ideas to both internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Proactive and results-oriented approach, with a passion for driving innovation and exceeding client expectations
