Product Designer

Zappi is a fast growing SaaS platform helping Fortune 500 companies pre-test new ideas and creative content before production. From new products, media campaigns, names, logos, packaging or flavours, Zappi allows companies to shelve bad ideas and improve on good ones. We bring together top expertise in applied statistics, data science, visualisation, product design, user research and engineering to create a platform that allows non-expert users to make high-stakes decisions easily and confidently.

What we value

We believe in hiring people who are passionate about product design and want the opportunity to do their best work. We believe product designers work best in supportive team environments that champion collaboration and data-driven decision making, allowing them to occupy and lead their space.

We believe the greatest products must be built on a deep understanding of customer needs and challenges, that can only be achieved through curiosity, collaboration and analysis of customer behaviour. We align as a business on the challenges we need to undertake and trust our product teams to solve them in the best possible way.

We value experimentation with unfamiliar techniques, failing fast and being bold. We practise continuous delivery and fast iteration. We hate politics, gate-keeping, unfairness and toxic behaviour. We believe in transparency, even when it’s unflattering. We believe in honesty, even when it’s uncomfortable. We treat failure as a learning opportunity. We believe in ethical and responsible business practices, having a positive impact on the environment and our communities. Zappi is a B Corp.

What you’ll be working on

What you’ll need

  • Experience & Design Proficiency: Over 4 years of experience as a product designer with strong theoretical and practical design skills; up-to-date with current components, patterns, trends, technologies, and research.
  • Tool Expertise & Design Systems: Expert in Figma and proficient with various design tools; experienced in creating, maintaining, and extending design systems and component libraries.
  • User-Centered Problem Solving: Ability to simplify complex, data-heavy scenarios into user-friendly solutions; skilled in data-driven design, conducting user research (including interviews and testing), and clearly communicating insights.
  • Interaction, Information & Content Design: Proficient in interaction design, information architecture, and information design; experienced in UX copywriting and content design.
  • Agile Experience & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Familiarity with working in an agile product environment; proven ability to work effectively within a product team, including product managers, engineers, and QA specialists.
  • Technical Understanding & Consistency Advocacy: Knowledge of front-end frameworks and development technologies, understanding their implications for design feasibility; champion for platform consistency, ensuring alignment across disciplines and teams.

  • Whilst Zappi does not specify a specific amount of time that should be spent working from the office, it is expected that you would be able to attend when required

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Drive Impactful Solutions: You'll tackle key challenges such as simplifying complex systems, empowering users with global, self-service tools and enhancing user engagement, directly contributing to our goal of our users benefiting from the platform without intervention

  • Measuring Success Together: Your success will be measured by metrics including user engagement, task success, feature adoption and user satisfaction aligning with our mission to be the data platform creators rely on to inspire and validate their decisions

The Process

We understand you may be involved in many interview processes, so we like to run a lean process. If you apply for this role, you can expect:

  • HR screening call - A 30 minute call with a member of our talent team to check how suitable you are for the role and cover administrative points
  • Design interview - This is a 1 hour session with members of the product leadership team. During this session, we’ll focus on your product design experience, skills and ambitions, with plenty of time to dig into the specifics of the role, showcase your portfolio and ask questions. This is a chance to get to know product leadership and establish if the role is the right fit for you
  • Design challenge - This is a short two part challenge assessing your technical skills as well as the way you approach problem solving. You’ll take this at your leisure in your own space.
  • Cultural interview - This is a 1.5 hour informal session, usually spent with your future team. This is a chance for you to present back your challenge and to learn more about what it's like working for Zappi and to hear more about what you will be working on. If you are based near one of our offices, we offer the option to come into the office so you can get a real feel for working with us.

Benefits

  • One company-paid mental health day of rest every quarter (these are pre-scheduled, so the entire company can take the same days off regularly to reset)
